View Full Version : Animals that begin with the letter "N"
HeliEng 8th September 2004, 19:31 Question came up today, how many animals (excluding sex related i.e: Nanny Goat and Species, i.e: Nightingale) can you think of beginning with the letter "N".
Maybe some of you guys can help me out!!!
The only one we could come up with was Newt!!!!!!!:(

Bern Oulli 8th September 2004, 19:50 Flypro - No, mine's bigger than yours...Narwhal or narwhale (http://www.arcticartsales.com/narwhal.html)
HeliEng 8th September 2004, 19:52 Bern Oulli,
That doesn't count I am afraid, under the rules, the animal is a Whale, which unfortunatly doen't begin with N!! ;)
tony draper 8th September 2004, 19:53 Natterjack
Nautilus
Nematode
errr hmmm, will get back to you.
Not sure what you mean by the Narwhale not being valid because its a whale? by that reconing a Newt is a Amphibian and therefore doesn't count either.

tony draper 10th September 2004, 00:24 One has already claimed the Nautilus Mr Onan, did you know the Nautilus can leave its shell if it chooses to do so, but it never chooses to do so.
Which begs the question, how do they know the Nautilus can leave its shell if it has never been seen sans shell, hmmmm?
One has one of said Nautilus's ancesters on ones book shelf, tiz an Ammonite, named after the Egyptian god Ammon Ra, he of the curly horns, it has been dead a long long time though,so one cannot try and pry it out of its shell.
Onan the Clumsy 10th September 2004, 01:26 Lobsters too. They moult their shells several times in their lifetime. To do this, they pull their claw meat through the wrist of their claw shell. Every now and then one of them has a claw a little too fat for this operation to be a scuuess. :ugh:
Also, every part of the shell is shed, including the lining of the stomach, the inside of the mouth etc etc :yuk:
Someone has recently written a VERY interesting book about the lobster. :8
tony draper 10th September 2004, 01:33 Therein the Nautilus is one up on Mr lobster,he does not have to leave his shell and risk being devoured, he simply constructs anothe chamber on the front of the existing shell, willy old critter is yer Nautilus, he has been around for a long long time in one guise or another, yer lobster is a relative newcomer.
