Does the the Northern Runway (08L/26R) at Gatwick have an ILS. I see it is being used this month as the main runway will be shut on some nights.

Just thinking about those foggy nights and diversions to LTN

No, no ILS on either 08L or 26R. The only approach procedure published for those runways is a 2 nm SRA.

Believe not possible to have ILS on LGW's Northern runway due insufficient space for the wider instrument runway strip/cleared and graded area.

if the other runway is closed at night then only smaller planes that make less noise can land on the 08L/26R and those smaller planes are easier to handle so an ILS is not as neccessery. Not that i have any flying experence but just from flight sim :)

Hi RT,
The Northern runway can and has had 747-400s land on it. The lack of ILS is probably down to the obstructions, and that mainly work is done during good weather. Unfortunately a few years back the start of the summer was awful and caused quite a few aircraft to divert.
