A simple question, which intrigues me- how do the major freeware companies make enough money to keep going- altruism?

I know that some, but not all of them have enhanced copies of their software, for which you pay, but others dont.

Some are trying to become the Industry Standard. Others are small companies or individuals trying to get noticed. ;)
