View Full Version : My mouse blew up!

Well, not the mouse but the battery inside it (Duracell M3 or similar).

Sometime after that the mouse pointer shot off across the screen on its own accord, froze and refused to budge.

Rebooted, checked USB connection, loaded new batteries and un-installed and re-installed driver and associated programs.

Result is that it works except that: when I left click on anything in the quick launch bar, nothing happens, when I left-click on Start the menu jumps up and then disappears in a blink of an eye.

Strangely enough the left button works fine in the test area of the settings program for the mouse. And it does allow me to left click on "back" and "forward" in IE among other things.

No spyware, no viruses, no trojans etc... Win 2k, sp4 - haven't checked the mouse in the PS2 port - but have stand-by mouse plugged in there now to allow me to carry on.

Not a major drama but curious as to what could cause that, though suspect mouse is due for early retirement - shame 'cause I only had three years :{

Any clues before I send it its last pay-cheque/check?

Charles

ps: Mouse= Mouseman Optical by Logitech.

Charles,

Try it in the PS2 Port and if that does not work, try it on another comp just to make sure that the problem is not a Corrupted OS Issue.

Take Care,

Richard

P.S. I think you are making this up just so you can go get a:

Logitech Laser Cordless Mouse MX1000 (http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=143533) :p

I'd like to submit in evidence said battery as item #1 :

My learned friend should note that tempting the suspect with the purchase of a cool mouse that requires another connection to the electric mains when the prosecution is well aware the suspect is already over-loading the capacity of his local grid is in the words of Daffy Duck, despicable. The defense calls for an adjournment to allow it to the check the price of...., ahem, to form the defence's rebuttal. ;E

Don't think it's OS by the way...it's a Microsoft product we are talking about! I paid top-dollar for good quality stuff here. And it works with the stand-by mouse - a labtec which installs itself as a Logitech

Boy have I got too much time on my hands..!
