Doing a typerating on your own

Hi there!

Can anyone tell me about the chances of employment in case I went on an did a 320 or 737 rating on my own. Any good stories out there? Which FTO's can you recommend?

Having a type rating with line training (100 or so hrs) looks like the best way into paid employment.
