I hear that the Conversion from OZ ATPL to JAA ATPL will become eaiser once we have a flight test for out atpl.. Currently the FAA and JAA are drafting procedures for a conversion, looks rather easy compared to the old process, it involves an 85 question exam, an FAA ATPL + 1500hrs, ie 3000hrs,, there is more on PPrune about it,, in the wannabies section under Prof Pilot Training....

Has anyone else heard that CASA and JAA will do the same??

Capt wawa,
As far as I know, JAA (eg UK CAA) are not in talks with CASA. Things are changing yet again in JAA land when EASA (or whatever the initials will be) take over soon.

I would have a close read of the FAA-JAA proposed changes. There isn't much of an improvement or gain. Only folks with 1500 hours on JAR/FAR 25 aircraft will gain. (maybe)...

You'll need to reference the JAR-FCL 1 document too, it's on the JAA site (pdf)
