Didnt hand over any money for a job. Spent £19K on more training with an excellent TRO ( Astraeus ) to increase my chances. My class of which i think there was 16 of us only about 4 without jobs... last time i looked.

Just a continuation of training.

ok....just re-read your first post and i thought i read you did a sstr?

does that stand for a 'self sponsored type rating' ?

perhaps i am confused.

Yeah, but its that little bit more training that is helping guys get jobs. This wasnt suppose to become a SSTR debate.

Irrespective of how you got there, 400 hrs TT and onto the jets...:ok:

19k seems to be a bit cheap for a 737tr. Is that without the VAT :yuk:

Well done to Bail out and all the others who have found gold.

Its so refreshing to read some happy stories, but good on you lot for going out there, using your initiative and making it happen.

Maybe this will wake up all those Wannabes who are so anti-pay for your own rating or similar schemes. Its becoming more and more obvious that this is now the way forward, and if you think its wrong, think twice about getting into the industry or at least lower your expectations of flying jets!

Nice one guys I hope it ends up being what you've always dreamt about.

Congrats boys...

I started with the same firm 4 weeks ago and also did the Astraeus thingy.

The views are well worth the wait - mainly around the office though.

Well done matey!

Who is the job with?

I did the bond sstr in Jan & still looking. Only shout of a job was a sim ride for a short contract with buzz/ryanair last month.

Just remember don't miss the runway (like some instructors), they are not as long as they used to be!

Look forward to flying with you again soon mate.

Cheers,

Did you get to meet Bruce? Dickinson, that is!

Flew with Astraeus recently. Nice little outfit.

Had trouble finding their head office last year though!!! Hidden away on a little industrial estate at Gatwick.

Well done.
