Can anyone help with these 2 queries for a PPL please. Things have changed a lot since I knew the Regs.

First. .Is there advantage/point in converting a UK issued PPL to a JAR-FCL licence?. .Can he fly (for example) a French registered aircraft on an existing UK PPL, or does he need a JAR version?. .What does a conversion cost - I assume nothing is free from the CAA!

Second. .What does a PPL have to do if he's lost his logbook? The CAA should have a record of his hours up to 10 months ago when he did his annual test under the new regs. (It will probably turn up, but there's a panic at the moment which I'm unable to quell because I don't know the PPL procedure.)

Thanks in advance guys.

1. There is no advantage at all, unless you want a 5 year licence.

2. You go to a solicitor and obtain a signed affidavit for the hours you are claiming. The CAA are unlikely to have a record of your hours.
