I would appreciate any information on what is involved in obtaining a FAA FI rating. <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Require an FAA CPL/IR, have completed the written tests and taken a CFI flight test with the FAA in a complex aircraft.

Training after CPL level normally entails 10-20 hours.. .The flight test with an FAA examiner is the most thorough and difficult one to pass. The oral typically lasts 2-4 hours plus and mainly involves the rudiments of the student-instructor relationship, the psychology of learning etc. Plus you will have to present a lesson plan.. . . .The flying part takes about an hour and a half.

There are schools in the US which specialise in these courses and as long as you have done the writtens you can generally complete these in a week or so.

Good luck
