A source at Air Canada says the company is disposing of its 3 remaining 747-400 Combis. AC will acquire two 340-500s for its Toronto to Hong Kong service.

The Boeings have been on the way out for a long time. Air Canada keeps announcing they're leaving, but they never seem to go away. And they've already aquired the 340-500's, they go into service next week YYZ-YVR for a month, then YYZ-HKG.

I was talking to a collegue of mine and he said it was true. They were now in the process of finding the original engines that were on each plane and making arrangments to swap them around as they need to go back to the leaser with the originals. They were up to something like 18 engine changes (including the swaps on other aircraft).

Yes, that's true. My "source" has been busy changing engines on the '47s.
