I need to pick-up my son from a Kenya Airways flight at LHR later in June. Any help please on which terminal and how to 'position' the car to collect?

Terminal 4 and park anywhere you like - it'll cost loads. Sorry.

T4 arrivals are on the ground floor. Therefore placing your car on the ground floor of the car park minimises walking/lifts etc.
If your question is how to avoid using the car park then park in somewhere like Cranford or Harlington (just outside the airport) with your mobile switched on. Have son call you as the baggage begins to appear on the belt. Chances are his won't be first off and by the time you drive into the airport he will be waiting for you. He just exits from arrivals, "straight" ahead out of a door cross various bus and taxi lanes and just before the car park is a pick up lane. I'd suggest he turns left and walks to the end (which will be the far end as you arrive) because there are ususally fewer cars there.
If he isn't there when you arrive, "take up the hold".
