Hey!
I have a simple question: When I take the descent diagramm of the 737 and I enter it without the wind correction, why do I get the NAM? What is the NAM?
Thanks for your help!
OD
NAM = Nautical Air Miles
Formula:
NAM NGM
----- = ------
TAS G/S

Thanks!
but could you give me an explanation?
NAM = NGM ( if there is no wind at all )
If you have cover a distance of 100 Nm and takes you 60 mins to cover that distance. Having a head wind of 30 kts. You will cover 130 NAM. And opposite with tail wind.
Am I right?

hello
yes, you`re right.
Another way to explain NAM/NGM:
NAM is the distance travelled with your TAS
NGM is the distance travelled with your GS

Note - if the formulas are confusing you, remember that NAM and TAS are connected, and NGM and G/S are connected by way of the time taken via the speed / time / distance equation. The time must be the same in both cases.
