BAe146-200 being based at Manchester from mid June to operate twice-daily services to Heathrow for Qantas, initially until the end of October. Contract may be extended - it all depends on whether Qantas finds another use for the Heathrow slots that it bought from FlyBe. This in turn is subject to agreement between Qantas and BA. In the meantime, a Flightline 146 is to operate from MAN as a feeder service to Qantas' existing flights from LHR, running straight into Terminal 4 at LHR with only international connecting pax aboard.

QANTAS should re-introduce what was a popular and profitable daily service Ex Manchester (until there big brother at BA told them to switch it off and they meekly surrended ....)

This is pathetic attempt by QANTAS to clawback the many thousands of passengers who now fly DIRECT from manchester with EMIRATES, SIA and MAS.

They are losing a shedload of passengers by concentrating on LHR.

Nice try QANTAS but not good enough ....cobber !

This is a new idea.....

Nothing in the Amadeus res sytem with a QF flight number from MAN-LHR-SYD. Flightline were flying for BACX out of MAN as a hot standby due to tech problems. So thats who bought FLYBE's slots out of LHR?? Cant see that BA would allow QF to do that despite being Oneworld partners that would upset the apple cart, BACX also codeshare with QF for MAN-FRA connections..........

If its the same Flightline then they're based at Southend with 146 aircraft and I kind of work on the same ad-hoc basis as Titan Airways at Stansted.

When QF pulled the MAN service BA tried this 'feeder' idea with a 737. It was always late because the a/c had a 1hr t/round and needed to be towed between terminals 1 & 2 in the same time.

Bring back the direct QF service, go on, you know you want to. :ok:

Dash 7, you say "doubt BA would let them do that (QF)" in reality it hasn't much choice - there is no controlling interest and all sorts of chinese walls inside the board room. For the same reason it was a QF decision to pull out of MAN to concentrate on higher yields ex LHR - nothing to do with BA.

Out of interest, these "flights" have been in AMOSS [MA's flight system] for a couple of months, now.

They are doing man-lhr twice daily. I also have an interview on wed. although will not be attending as wage is £12300 and £2.00 ph fp. The quantas contract is only until the 31st Oct 2004, So what happens then? I asked them this and she said that if the contract was not renuied then all man crew would be made redundant.
