Heard that Groundstar taking over ground handling from Ringway Handling soon on Scandic,Cyprus Airways and some others, not good as heard that they undercut and made a loss when they arrived at Gatwick a few yrs ago just so they could get work.

too many handling agents at MAN can only lead to jobs going

They are all currently groundstar contacts, just ringway handling do the ramp as groundstar didt have ramp.

Now they do and they are taking their own contacts back from ringway. No undercutting.

Scandic, Cyprus, Air Transat, LTE, Air Europa, EuroCypria are all going to be groundstar ramp from 1st May

Eastern & Air Southwest currently are.

Seem's that the SHOE . has finally had the last laugh at Ringways expence. He has taken all his contracts back in house. But Knowing how this slime-ball works it wont be long before he screws this up aswell. As for all these handling agents at manchester, something has to give. Far to many agents at Ringway. All fightiing for the same work. Seeems to me that most of these contracts are all run at a loss.

In comparrison Lord Hanson said ( Your workforce is your most valuable assett.

The shoe say's Run your workforce with Fear.

My Heart goes out to the good set of staff that work for Groundstar....

Good look this season.

MAPLC just want to be landlords with no overheads, they could not give a flying f##k for anybody who has worked there balls off for them.As for having to many handling agents the sooner that health & safety get to grip when there is not enough men deployed to a/c the better, but this seems something else MAplc can get away with murder

Back in the 90s the old PLC Handling services was restructured.

That's the posh name for shafting. After a good shafting Ringway Handling was born....A stand alone baggage company, not to be assisted by the parent. Or not to be seen to be helped. After a few years of making a steady profit in moved the pen pushers... and penny scrimpers. Ringway was always seen to be the best payers on the patch. Till they RESTRUCTURED again.

Just a posh name for shafting Mk2... Chopped the rates down yet again. plus a 5year pay freeze, run the equipment into the ground,

Now 2004 what do they need to do RESTRUCTURE.

Thats Mk3... Try to get a 18month pay freeze. Take some Leave of the work-force and try to reduce there sick pay. The pen pushers say that its costing a lot of DOSH these sick levels... Not that they want to admit that they are causing the problem in the first place... I mean less bodys on a plane = accidents. But hey if we dont agree to change then we might as well FEED THE DUCKS

Then you have the Contract Managers ..... These fine bodys are paid to go around supping Tea & Coffee. Plus powder there noses. seems every time they try to do something they just F@ck it up.

Seems people were told that Swissport were not a threat...

Not in my book there not . Just go out there and check all of that nice shiny Equipment that they have ....

They seem to have far more than they need... Watch out there Mr No Dosh or we will all be FEEDING THE DUCKS.

If Swissport are not a threat at the moment, Just watch this space, they are growing everyday, they started with just one or two bits then they took their work off Ringway, and now they are doing four Monarchs a day, come September a few people will be watching their backs, the shoe has really got his daggers drawn.

The Rep Has Spoken!!!!!!!!:D

Are these the slots that Aviance cannot cover at the moment ?

Rumour has it that the flights are at the peak of Aviances daily program. I believe that they asked Ringway to cover.

hey domrep if you beleive the shoe knows how to draw a dagger you must live in cuckoo land.he's got more bulls**t than a herd of cattle.Aviance servisair and ringway(even with dr jed)must be wetting themselves at the thought of a third a third & a third barry being let loose to lie his way through manchester again

Just ask any captain or airline rep how they have found swissport's ramp at manchester im sure they will answer the same.

All service has been fantastic.

Manchester needed a shake up in ramp handling now its got one.

Servisair/GlobeGround ramp staff dont care and struggle with getting staff in and loosing a lot of experienced staff.

Ringway Handling have been slow with union blocks stopping everyone working, no one seems to do anything when asked.

Aviance, struggling with getting in staff to cover summer and again loosing experienced staff.

It falls down to money and how management deal with their staff.

Swissport are fully staffed and with all the ramp kit they need

Domrep
13th May 2004, 19:57
The problem with RHS is not unions or getting people to do the job, the problem is RHS abide by the Health and Safety rules, by having safe working practice's, the right numbers to work on their various aircraft, not like some that could be mentioned, 3 men to wide bodied a/craft.
At the moment you might be fully staffed, and have all this wonderful kit, but from what I've seen it won't be long before it is Fcuked, the training of the staff at S/port seems some what limited, and buy the way, pat yourself on the back when you start to serve a major airline, instead of the bit and bobs you are doing now.

So Swissroll

:* Explain this .. You say every thing is fine and dandy.

Explain why the chutes with your flights are always blocked and explain why you missed all those bags off the cyprus..

Slug - I think your taking about the CY at the weekend, where 9 bags got offloaded and left in bag hall for collection by baggage services. appart from that ive not heard of any mass of baggage missing any flights, the chutes do get blocked at times it is the first week of opperation in T1 some of the staff dont know T1. If that is the only point you can pick at, Im happy!

Domrep - I aggree with you that Ringway have plenty of men on aircraft, its just that they are not multi skilled so finding the right person is hard work. The Staff at Swissport are some of the most skilled on the airport, the lads at the lower levels are new i.e. seasonal staff its just like everyother handling agent the seasonals walk around in a daze for a week or two until they fully understand the job. As for the equip it will stay in good condition if you've noticed its TCR equiptment they have to ensure it is.

be nice if you could get your facts right before you type ?????

ringway handling are MULTI SKILLED ...and also have the most experianced staff on the airfield and you cant buy that in .. they play by the health and safety rules

they have a great bunch of lads who pull together to get the job done so please look at your own operation before you decide to type and get it wrong

Well i think that this summer will see contracts won and lost....servisair seem to have too much work to handle even though its servisair/globeground now.

We have seen on this site what Groundstar have done at other airports....undercut to win contacts.....and then one big mess from what i read on here...LGW for one place for a start.

RHS do things the way it should be done.....6 men widebody aircraft.seen Aviance with 2 men on an A330-600 doing turnround last summer.....cant be safe and i guess that if u are MR Airline who wants to pay as little as poss for a service..u going to get a crap one at that.

u pay for what u get at the end of the day.

There are a lot of people threatened by swissport moving into their backyard easyly noticed by reactions here. Swissport are going to expand at MAN with new contracts. At the end of the day the Staff are happy and work hard with the company & management. The airlines and pax handled are happy with service too, they pay the bills.

Youll be suprised about the future :D

MrLostLuggage

seeing how a good proportion of groundstar staff are ex aviance or servisair/ globe how long will it be before they get disillusioned with the new broom and revert to the stereotypes you gave their previous employers. never knock the competition cos you never know when you may need them
