Yep good news for BOH, but will ROCKHOPPER be able to compete with AURIGNY? What would you rather fly on, a Trislander or SD360?

What BOH needs is more jet services to the sun and 'interesting' places for the locals and students alike.

Any ideas of the Summer charter schedules, or more FR destinations?

Come on Jet2, jet into BOH!

Yep, This is going to be a real test for Rockhopper as Aurigny's fares are about 50% less than Rockhoppers. Would be a real shame to see Rockhopper pull of these routes seeing as they brought them back to BOH after they were dropped over 10 years ago.

Noticed that the airport website is re-launching soon. Could this be at the same time of an announcement re the new 'low cost services' that the new airport boss mentioned in mid December? He did say that he hoped to make an announcement in about 3 months time and, well, here we are. It'll be three months this week so hopefully something exciting for BOH this week or next.:ok:

As a matter of interest Aurigny used Trislander G-XTOR instead of the Shorts 360 on today's new Bournemouth-Guernsey/Jersey service. I counted 11 pax on the Bournemouth-Guernsey sector.

It seems that Rockhopper are safe! There is only a total of 130 people booked for the whole month! If you calculate 2 flights a day 7 days a week seating 39 Pax per route.....i think we might have some empty aircraft?!!?

Also, the reason that they used the Trilander is because the 360 went tech!!! Also, there was only about 2 Pax on the morning route to JER!!!!!

This is seeming to be more hassle than its worth!

PAX AGENT:

Is that for the Jersey route or both?

Hopefully bookings will pick up, seeing as they've actually bothered to do some advertising for the new routes in the local press here in Bournemouth.

Unfortunately that is the total for all of their routes for the month although remember their will be bookings being made throughout the month! Fingers crossed!!!

Looks as though these 2 new routes are doing ok now.

Aurigny are having to use a Trislander as well as a S360 on peak days.

Hope it continues:ok:

Rockhopper have cut their Jersey services from 8 return flights to just 2 operating on a friday and sunday. Flights going via Guernsey on one routing. Guernsey used to be daily until Aurigny announced their intentions and Rockhopper gave up almost straight away.

Rock's flights to Alderney from BOH are doing well though.

As I mentioned earlier it looks like ROCKHOPPER aren't going to be able to compete with AURIGNY which is a shame. Let's hope they continue to survive.

Good news about the Manchester Airport Group investing £325m (ish) in their airports, lets hope some comes winging it's way down South!

Any news on the Summer schedules, charters etc?

Come on Jet2 get a grip and move into BOH

ezyBoh,

Keep an eye on the DUO airlines website as they are going to announce two new bases sometime this year and they have said that one is a South coast airport. This basically means Gatwick, Southampton, Bournemouth or Exeter.

SOU runway is too small for the CRJ's as was shown by the DUO summer charters to Italy planned for SOU, moving to BOH.

Gatwick is expensive compared to BOH and well served already.

Exeter doesn't serve as large a catchment as BOH and Flybe are now filling the gaps down there.

So, fingers crossed that its BOH.

Also watch out for an announcement from HOP Air. They plan to use three ATR 72's flying low cost between UK airports. The former boss of BUZZ is at the helm and has mentioned the success of BOH-PIK for FR. So they might be on the way to.:ok:

The reason that Aurigny have used a tri aswell as a S360 is because the S360 was not configured for the normal 39 seats. It is not that there were too many passengers because it was so popular but that Aurigny cocked-up their scheduling!!! Still...bookings are up and it's getting quite busy! Good news fore BOH! (lets hope that extra money goes on the arrivals area shall we!!)

The new MD of BOH, Keith Kerr, has said that his first major job will be to vastly improve the arrivals area. So lets hope he gets going on that one. You can now take a virtual tour of BOH on their new improved website www.flybournemouth.com
