Are First Choice / Air 2000 still planning to replace the 767's with the A330 and if so ; within what kind of timescale ??

Don't think Air 2000 ever had a plan to replace the 763's with A330's. Leisure international who operated 763's were to replace them with A330's, but when Air 2000 merged/took over Leisure, their order for A330's was cancelled. As it stands...no outstanding long haul fleet orders. Maybe one day though, A330 would fit in well.

767 production line is on its last legs. Boeing seem to be down to one a month at the moment, and are probably only keeping it going to help the tanker contract prospects. For commercial aircraft it seems to be about to go the way of the 757.

Really can't see why First Choice would go for 20/25 year old technology about to go out of production, with a lot of secondhand examples on the market.

with a lot of secondhand examples on the market.

Really, you try finding an available 300 series with CF engines then !! Last count there were only two

The future appears to be Boeing. We're getting three 767's next year (ex - Vietnam Airlines) to replace the two we've got now. They will have less than 300 seats for greater legroom and IFE in the seat backs. The Company is allegedly getting interested in long haul again so there is talk of eventually six to eight 767's. However I'll believe that when I see it. Looking further ahead, according to our DFO and Managing Director Boeing "wants to get First Choice on board the 7E7 programme" with a view to introducing the aircraft to the European charter market around 2008. I have to admit I nearly laughed out loud when I heard that one.

...having experienced as pax the AMM 763 LGW-CUN last Year, you also need to get away from 8 across in a 76' - way too cramped for this long a sector (10hrs+).

I'd pay a bit more for it, but not the excessive charges (for a family of 4 that is) that you make for the "premium" cabin up front.

Not be entirely negative, our flights were on time, and the AMM CC excellent :D
