Hi folfs,

I understand A B747 Classic was rather badly damaged during a jacking accident inside the maintenance hanger at Lufthansa main base.
By the looks of it, the fuselage has been badly 'crimped' at the upper area above the rear cargo door.
The main damage seems to be at the upper part of the fuselage, with the windows area of the skin bent at all angles, but none broke!

The effect is similar to that when you fold a rolled newspaper, where the top surface 'krinkles' inward and the lower surface has only minor damage.

Looks like terminal damage to me, but Lufthansa run airplanes in very nice condition, so they may decide to repair!

It happened on the 16FEB, I think.

Anybody know anything, I'd be interested to know whether they decide to repair, after all, it IS a Classic!

In the photos, I couldn't see if was a '200 or a '300 series!

Cheers

It was a -200 series, believe it was D-ABYO but I'll have to check to make sure. It does really look bad, looks like a coke can that was twisted. I dont see how they will bother repairing it, too sad... but we'll see...

They let the main jacks down with nose and tail jacks still in place apparently

Well, I stand corrected, looks like it was D-ABYZ
