Any news on venue for this one? Or any thoughts/preferences?

CarltonBrowne the FO
19th Mar 2004, 21:43
Ok suggested venue is Waxy O'Connors , in George Street, a convenient walk from both Central and Queen Street railway staions, and even more convenient for Buchanan Street Underground station (which saves me having to find somewhere to park).
I will try to be there from 1900 onwards (so those of you who know me will expect me about 1910  .
Dining venue depends on numbers, and desired type of food.

Sorry folks just got Aprils roster and I haven't been given the leave. I was living in hope over expectation but it was worth a try.
Hope you have a great time

So that will be 2000hrs then carlton!!!!!:p

PilotsPal
24th Mar 2004, 10:36
Carlton turning up late? We shall see.....

CarltonBrowne the FO
28th Mar 2004, 22:42
My suggestion for dinner would be Wagamama. I ate there last week, it was delicious and not too pricey- for those who fancy something different there are loads of alternatives within easy walking distance, and the miracle of modern communications should allow meeting up for further drinkies afterwards....

stagger
28th Mar 2004, 22:49
Should be able to Stagger along.:D

Is it definitely going to be Waxy O'Connors at 19:00 then?

Do we have enough people to call it a "mini-Bash" or is it still just a "quiet evening"?

ComJam
3rd Apr 2004, 23:54
I and my "insignificant other " ;) will be there.

Cheers

Checkboard has spied a write up for a bar called Bloody Mary's on 28 Vinicombe St, Glasgow (0141 560 8004). Tiny trendy cocktail bar in the West End. Prices are around the Ģ4 mark.

Will be in town at some point early evening but have to fly for last train home .....

some kind soul has booked me to leave home at 0900 next morning to catch a flight and I will probably still have not packed by the time I get back from GLA :{

MJ, will SMS you with my ETA and see about a few pre Bash drinkies in a bar full of tarts or something :E

So the plan is still meet in Waxy O'Connors at 19:00 with the possibility of adjournment to Bloody Mary's and/or Wagamama?

EGPFlyer
10th Apr 2004, 09:13
I've been roped into my sisters house warming party so I will come and say a quick hello as I need to be at her place for 8. 10W/MJ, I'm in town from 5ish (going to see this passion film at 3) if you fancy a few beers about then.

CarltonBrowne the FO
10th Apr 2004, 15:43
Yeah, Waxy O'Connor's in George Street at 1900, with a stroll round to Wagamama shortly after. It's a short enough distance, the stroll should be possible even in FM shoes! :ok:

Guys,

Thank you flower, I had a lovely day courtesy of CarltonBrowne. Was really good to catch up with so many of you again on Saturday night, and particularly pleasing to hear EGPF's good news.

Sorry we had to leave so early but you know how it is....

Yes, I left early because of...... train times! That was it! :O

OzExpat
27th Apr 2004, 12:37
Yes I remember having to do the "last minute dash" to make the last train out of GLA... that's gotta be the greatest enemy of ANY bash in GLA... :{

Flypuppy
27th Apr 2004, 14:18
Could be worse OzEx, trying to get a taxi that goes to Kirkintilloch at 0300 from Glasgow city center is impossible. The 8 mile walk does help in sobering one up and minimising the hangover.

PilotsPal
27th Apr 2004, 15:02
Funny - can't remember anything about a train. But if CB says so....

ComJam
28th Apr 2004, 13:55
I'm glad MadJock didn't have too far to walk! :)

Red wine on top of all the rest, oh dear...

Top night, great choice of restaurant

Cheers

I'm not surprised Pups... even I haven't heard of THAT place! :p I recall a pleasant 3AM, or so, stroll thru EDI with CJ and a few others, a couple of years ago... :D Seems much more civilised than 8 miles - and at least we had the decency to end up with a partial hangover! :ok:
