I'm looking at relocating to Halifax, NS and one major factor for me (along with the availability of broadband internet!) is whether there are any PPL level flying schools within a reasonable drive (i.e. less than an hour)

Any recommendations?

Cheers,

Andrew

Thanks but sadly that site only lists two flying schools in Canada, both in Manitoba!

I am not sure what is at Halifax anymore as far as flight training. I believe there is something at Shearwater (CYAW). It's actually closer to downtown Halifax but can't testify as to the quality or status. There is an excellent facility at Moncton (CYQM) however. Unfortunately it is about a 21/2 hour drive from downtown Halifax. Here is the link if you're interested. http://www.mfc.nb.ca/ed. They are also doing JAA courses now as well. Pass it on for what it's worth.

Cheers and good luck. :ok:

The closest place around Halifax is the Shearwater Flight Centre which is right in the city (on the Dartmouth side). After getting my PPL on the west coast I find rental prices in Halifax to be really expensive.
