View Full Version : Nothing Happened Today! Everything Fine!!!
17th Sep 2001, 10:03
Well of course this heading is not true, but I thought I would start a thread, where those of us that fear constant change and disaster, can hide in till this all blows over.... please feel free to report any occurrences of the status quo in this thread.
BTW..resistance is futile.. ;)
The weather in Brisbane is fine again.......
17th Sep 2001, 10:16
There ya go Lame... feel better now mate? I too can confidently report that the toilet paper in the Hyatt Brisbane still retains that reassuring combination of softness and strength!
It's the little things folks..
Btw...resistance is futile..!
17th Sep 2001, 10:32
I went flying today.
The weather was very nice.
There was pretty snow on the hills.
17th Sep 2001, 10:42
After a short search, I found my navel lint in its usual location. :D :D

Voice Over: (Michael Palin) June the 4th, 1973, was much like any other summer's day in Peterborough, and Ralph Melish, a file clerk at an insurance company, was on his way to work as usual when... (da dum!) Nothing happened! (dum dum da dum) Scarcely able to believe his eyes, Ralph Melish looked down. But one glance confirmed his suspicions. Behind a bush, on the side of the road, there was *no* severed arm. No dismembered trunk of a man in his late fifties. No head in a bag. Nothing. Not a sausage. For Ralph Melish, this was *not* to be the start of any trail of events which would not, in no time at all, involve him in neither a tangled knot of suspicion, nor any web of lies, which would, had he been not involved, surely have led him to no other place, than the central criminal court of the Old Bailey.
(muttering voices, Judge's gavel banging.)
Voice Over: But it was not to be (ominous music returns). Ralph Mellish reached his office in Dullsells Street in Peterborough, at 9:05 a.m., exactly the same time as he usually got in!
Enid: Morning, Mr. Melish
Ralph: (Terry Jones) Morning, Enid
Voice Over: Enid, a sharp-eyed, clever young girl, who had been with the firm for only 4 weeks, couldn't help noticing the complete absence of tiny but tell-tale blood stains on Mr. Melish's clothing. Nor did she notice anything strange in Mr. Melish's behaviour that whole morning. Nor the next morning. Nor at any time before or since the entire period she worked for that firm.
Ralph: Have the new paper clips arrived, Enid?
Enid: Yes, they're over there, Mr. Melish.
Ralph: (faintly) Oh...
Voice Over: But for the lack of any untold circumstances for this young secretary to notice, and the total non-involvement of Mr. Melish in anything illegal, the full weight of the law would have insured that Ralph Auldus Mellish would have ended up like all who challenge the fundamental laws of our society. In an iron coffin with spikes on the inside.
:D :D :D
Just went to put the rubbish bins out, same same as every Monday night, noticed that the Sun is just setting in the West, same same as every day........
;) :D
17th Sep 2001, 12:20
Isn't that spooky, lame! Ol' father Sol went an' dun the same bloodey thing 'ere! I can't understand it...
17th Sep 2001, 12:21
my whipper snipper used the usual amount of nylon line whilst tackling the top end weeds and grass in my yard.......
17th Sep 2001, 13:14
Cairns is windy but fine. My cat is scratching at a flea. The power just went out and my battery is running low. Just another ordinary day.
17th Sep 2001, 18:16
Well here in Perth, if you could have bottled the air today you would make a fortune.
Took my black toy poodle Fido for a walk to the river, where he made friends with a little white girl Maltese Cross, whose mother got a little cross at their show of affection for each other. ;)
I bought some croissant and sat in the sun to eat them with a good cup of Espresso whilst watching them play.
Another fine day here, the Sun is setting over towards the West again, all same same....... ;)  :D

CNN is still rehashing old news in an attempt to look like they've got something to say. I'm sure they absolutely hate all this waiting around! But they've been doing that for quite a while now too.
On cable, the HBO channel is still repeating all the same old movies ... nothing ever changes there.
The sun came up this morning. The temperature increased thru the day until about 0400Z, when it started to slide slowly back. And, now, it even looks like the sun will go down again ... just as usual.
Seems like everything here is still the same.
20th Sep 2001, 12:19
didn't think anything stayed the same in PNG...maybe the smiles on touring pilots/engineers heading home
Yet another fine day in Brisbane.
Nothing much happened again today........
;)  :D

Planet earth continued to rotate on frictionless bearings, spinning its way through another of the finite number of days before the sun becomes a red dwarf and incinerates it, destroying all traces of life, art, culture, technology, indeed the very planet itself.
Mankind continued sublimely on its way, some documenting the history of this slightly-flawed species, others engaged in furthering the ultimately futile technologies, others contemplating the eternal questions. Most simply got on with their lives, just as they have for every other day they have spent alive.
Elsewhere in the universe, sentient life-forms continued doing whatever it is they do.
Time moved relentlessly onwards.
The universe is unfolding - expanding - evolving - exploding - as it should. Nothing has changed. And if it had, in all probability none of us would even notice anyway.
I draw great comfort from all of this. It confirms my suspicion that I am even more insignificant than I first thought!

The beginning of another fine, if slightly overcast, day in Melbourne. Another night shift almost over, all simulators prepared for the invasion of intrepid aviators eager, as ever, to enhance their knowledge and skills to prepare for the never-ending battle against the unknown forces railing against them. I can go home to bed safe in the knowledge of a night's work well done.
The Meri's in Mt Hagen still look sexy......................................................NOT!!!!!!!!
How's it Hanging
2nd Oct 2001, 13:14
Yep, still to the left!! :D
2nd Oct 2001, 14:20
I think I'll jump in the falcon and go on a holiday. I will get that job when I return! Why do today, what can be put off untill tomorrow?
North or South? That is the question! Just get me away from the Gold Coast!
Everything is still fine in Brisbane.
Nothing very controversial, hopefully it will stay that way, especially here on Dunnunda?
  ;) :D
13th Oct 2001, 00:38
Lame:- Good morning, pretty much the same in MEL. Night shift almost finished, machines all ready for crews to appear, the sun is up in a slightly overcast sky and I can hear my bed calling me from here.
13th Oct 2001, 07:20
Cairns is getting warmer and the aircraft seem to be lower than usual - roof height and there seem to be more of them. Not like the usual Saturday. Anyway, I think I'll just turn over and go back to sleep.
13th Oct 2001, 15:14
<Sigh> It's raining here in MEL, it's Saturday night and I'm here at work. Only four wheel changes tonight (hopefully). Yep, another normal day.......
<shrug shoulders, sigh's again>
13th Oct 2001, 18:15
GoodToGo:- I can sympathise, mate, roll on 07:00, then 4 days off. Luckily, it's fairly quiet here just now, let's hope it stays that way until I leave for home.
13th Oct 2001, 18:39
It NEVER rains in Melbourne, does it? :p :p :D ;)
13th Oct 2001, 20:51
Surely a little controversial for this thread CJ. There is a sin bin for wild eyed radicals like you :D :D
20 degrees in Europe today, I did a check for a new pilot that went really well, then went out and we all had a beer and a laugh :)
13th Oct 2001, 22:14
Days are gettin shorter here. Time to head south.
Regret to have to advise, all is NOT fine in Brisbane this morning............
There is all this wet stuff falling from the sky?
We do really need it though.........
14th Oct 2001, 05:10
Rain?? What's that?
I think I remember seeing some about a year or so ago...might have missed it though
Mmmm. rain (said in best Homer Simpson voice)
Nope nothing (except aviation) happened here just blue skies, dust and light winds...a day like every other day....
14th Oct 2001, 07:50
Yessir, Massah! I's be good from now on. ;) :D ;)
14th Oct 2001, 10:09

I'd like to report that's it's sunny here in Perth and will reach a max of 22 degrees. It's nice to know my desk is right where I left it and it still has that old, familiar scratch on the top 2.8cm from the phone but a long way from the calculator. I have noticed though that it's moving closer to the mouse mat. Does anyone know why that might be?
16th Oct 2001, 13:45
When microthingie developed the operating douvre for PC's, they forgot to tell everyone how badly it s**ked. So they made the mousemat to have a non-slip purchase on the desk so that the mouse wouldn't suck it in through the little spaces next to the track ball, and eventually through the little chord (hollowed-out of course to allow this to happen), and into the computer proper. Ever wondered how he got to be the richest man in the world? He sucked all the lose change and bills off all of the desks across the world into everyones computer and thence through the internet to him.
Ever noticed how a laser-mouse doesn't need a mousemat? That has GOT to be the reason why!
Who needs a spare conspiracy theory?
16th Oct 2001, 15:41
it keeps raining here
but its good
i can use it as an excuse not to go and mow the lawn :D
16th Oct 2001, 15:55
I found a 'white powdery substance' in our bathroom, and it was talcum powder! :)
It's 1428 and all is quiet... which makes it real easy to hear the jet fighter going around in circles overhead.
I guess that pile-it still haven't figured out the landing part. Everything is like it always is. ;)
16th Oct 2001, 21:04
Rather warm for October in England.
17th Oct 2001, 02:25
rained here today, reassuringly normal
It rained here again this morning!! You English lot have stolen our Spring...I want it back!
17th Oct 2001, 04:16
Please send rain. The "build up" is stifling.
17th Oct 2001, 14:17
Quite warm today.
Went shopping at supermarket, bought everything I needed and then didn't have to queue.
Went to the gym and got a bit fitter without hurting myself.
Cooked dinner which turned out nice.
Didn't row with the wife.
Went to the pub and had a couple of nice pints of beer with friends and got to bed not too late, but not too early.
Now I'm suspicious!
Did some DIY, then sat and watched the paint dry, snooze after lunch etc etc.
18th Oct 2001, 03:29
It will be 27 perfect degrees here in Perth today. We may have a thunderstorm later ... I love thunderstorms so that would be nice. Situation normal - nothing further to report.
Bloody cold and overcast again!! What the feck is going on?? At least tho, if Perth is nice, maybe it will be here tomorrow too...then again, pigs might fly...
18th Oct 2001, 16:49

19th Oct 2001, 20:01
Today yet again there wasn't a job offer on the door mat. (Sob)
I didn't get to fly and the parachutist didn't get to prove gravity works once again (it was cloudy, misty and drizzly) and tonight I probably won't sucseed in pulling.
Never mind, eh?
20th Oct 2001, 03:27
Overcast, miserable, cold, least it's not flippin' raining! <sigh>
Hmmmm Airbus showing off an A320 here this morning. Might go have a squizz, that'll kill 3.576645 minutes.......
Have a good day!
