Omark I contacted ATCBabe during the festivities to see if the merrymakers would be making their traditional visit to PPRuNe Chat to gloat at those lurking in there. It was only around 2300hrs and if her response that they were all too drunk to bother is anything to go by, I fear you will be waiting quite some time for the participants to have recovered suficiently to even remember their own names let alone be capable of posting photos in here :\
I better get back to the PPRuNe Recovery Ward to see how they are all getting on and dole out a few more analgesics and fluids :ugh: Looks like I could be busy for some time to come :uhoh: :E

The head is feeling better today after a lousy night of sleep, or lack of it. All the excitement, food and not a little booze I expect.

First off. My thanks to all of you who attended. I very much hope you enjoyed yourself. Eric Brown certainly still looks good and sounded even better. If you had been around at the time he was doing his stuff I wonder how many would have thought he would be writing history? A great man indeed.

My heartfelt thanks also go to those who helped Jan on the check-in table, especially G-SXTY. To those who bought with them some raffle prizes to help push up the ticket sales by our ever persistent and determined raffle mistress - Aerbabe - who I could not do without. I have not yet worked out how much we made on the raffle but I think it will be in excess of £350, which is good going. I'll let you know.

Add £470 from the auction of 2 FLYER subs. Courtesy of Wholigan 2 bottles of Arun single malt (beautiful stuff!). A disc Mik made of John Farley's lecture last year. And, forgive me, two other items I can't remember = total £470 Brilliant, thank you so much.

Now! I am sorry if you had hassle with reception. I am not best pleased with their performance at all and a sour e-mail went off to them last night to say so.

Please check your account too. The cost of the room should have been £50 single and £60 double. Some were charged £55 for a single room but I had that changed when it was bought to my attention. If you have had that charge call the hotel and get a refund. Any problems please let me know.

Wino. Noted you got home OK and hope you and your charming wife had a good time. Thanks for coming over. That was pretty impressive. Best wishes to you both for Christmas and the New Year.

To all of you, please accept our best wishes for a Happy Christmas and a good New Year

See you at the next Super Christmas Bash on 4th December 2004.

A big thank you to IFR for organisating such a super evening - and so very nice to meet Mrs IFR and everyone else!

My hat is off to AerBabe who's unerring ability to detect shrapnel ensured my pockets never became overladen! :ok:

I left at O4 something or other and somehow found my way to Three Bridges station and got straight on a train. By happy coincidence it happened to be going in the correct direction; unhappily I was expected to purchase a ticket, the unexpired portion of my ticket apparently didn't count despite my protestations that it was still dark... just...

Regards and the very best of Seasons Greetings to you all.

Don,
I too am feeling MUCH better now.

Spectacular time was had by both myself and Midnight Special.
Thanks for doing such a great job.

I hadn't brought my camera figuring that there would be DOZENS of pics on the forum by now. Well, I am waiting, but I don't see em yet... At this point I would like to point out that I had NY bash pics in the thread by the first night and complete coverage the second night.

Of course I didn't have the same kind of quality pics of commjam that are available to pprune dispatcher...

There isn't a Gatbash goes by without someone sticking a camera up my kilt! :)

At least I always wear the thing properly and for the first time was the ONLY guy in the room in a kilt (deeply disappointed in 10W and Squidy, although his more of a skirt :) )

Top night as usual, nice to see everyone again, thanks Don and all for doing a great job again.

See you next year

The PPRuNe Recovery Ward for Casualties of the Gatbash has now been closed again:ok: IFR has been returned to the safekeeping of Mrs IFR, Huggy has been returned to Mrs Huggy and ATCB has been issued with a nice big label with her name and address printed on it in large, clear, easy-to-read letters, escorted to the airport and handed over to the Meet and Assist staff of the airline with whom she is returning to EDI. They have promised to have her handed over to the proper authorities when she reaches EDI. :E
The ward is now closed for its annual refurbishment which is always necessary after this event. :\ I shall now concentrate on building up my strength to cope with next years influx. :D

Well Rob and I had a great time, it was good to meet everyone again. Aerbabe did a good job with the raffle as always. Don of course got the whole thing arranged with the usual sucess, he even sorted a few hotel related problems out. Not sure what the scotsmen's excuses were for not wearing their kilts but that did not matter too much and hopefully they gave more to the raffle because of it.

Well, it was great to see so many of you again at the Gatbash and sorry not to see those who were removed by the dreaded flu, etc. Apologies for taking so long to get round to this, but I drew the short straw for the Christmas roster and have only just got home today. Thanks to FFF for putting up the first pics. I'm sure we all eagerly await Wholigan's traditional "angle" on the Bash!

Anyway it was indeed another super Bash and many thanks to Don for all his hard work. Looks like it's high time for another name change.

2.5 hours of sleep? I could only dream of having that much sleep! I got 4 hours after we left the bar in morning, and that was IT from Friday morning to sunday evening untill I got on the airplane for the ride home (I only slept 2 or 3 hours on the airplane, I wanted to watch the terminator movie)...

But if you want to be a "Knight of the Freight Dogs, order of the sleepless nights," you have to learn that sort of thing. <G>

I flew the mail for 3 years. However, I don't remember the fatigue to be quite as crushing as it was when I got home from the UK this time... Of course there were no 14 hour sessions in the pub in the middle of a duty period either, so maybe that is why I was in such agony when I got home...

IFR, even in retirement, I admire your stamina. And YES I learned quite a bit. Having already achieved my life goal of being an airline captain on the ole scarebus, you have provided excellent training on my next goal in life. To become a dirty old man :ok: ....

I must admit though, While I was quite impressed with all your little hugs, Danny's rock star status was an order of magnitude greater... I want women to throw themselves at me when I enter a room like a certain French knockout greeted Danny on arrival...

Oh, and GREAT pictures DrSyn...

Cheers,
WIno

Coconuts, Reddo etc.

You can change your nick in Chat room as often as you like, (just so long as you dont nick someone elses nick). However, its an anonymous forum. Any room users who wish to vilify another pprune member risks being denied access. I'd suggest finding another site with more liberal views towards this sort of bullying and slug it out in there.

DX Wombat
2nd Jan 2004, 00:45
Hawk I am saying this openly so all concerned can see it. You seem to be somewhat unaware of the facts here.
It is Coconuts who is being rather rude to Reddo, not the other way round. Coconuts is wrong in her assumption that Reddo told everyone her previous user name and I have told her so personally in chat. Nobody told anyone else who she was, everyone worked it out for themselves. Reddo has stated the truth. Perhaps Coconuts might like to correct the situation by amending her post?
No doubt you will wish to shoot me down in flames but I hate to see people maligned for no reason.

Hey jeez

I hadn't clicked in here in ages so I didn't realise this was going on.

It's just that I got a bit of a shock when I saw Reddo's post, its one thing people knowing my identity in chat & another thing having plastered on the forum against my wishes. What I said was made in jest, it certainly wasn't intended to cause hurt, (if it did I'm sorry) or cause a full scale on line riot.

Infact Reddo didn't initially guess my identity, I revealed to her in private where I was from & then she guessed, I think I asked her to be quiet about it, but I can't be sure. Sure it became obvious eventually, I expected it to once I attended or atleast tried to attend the bash & met atleast one PPRuNer from behind the facade of the forums so I wasn't too bothered about being forthright or people guessing.

I wouldn't worry too much cause I'm not intending on using chat too much now, I need to knuckle down to my studies & I'm back to sodding work tomorrow. I prefer anyway to PM my mates anyway rather than wait hours for them to come into a chatroom still the break was nice & enjoyed everyones company while in there, yours included Wombat :D.

Corr you guys wouldn't want to live in Ireland, the way we slag & take the mick out of each other, usually a sign we like & are relaxed with each other rather than the other way around. Now lets just forget about it eh & let bygones be bygones.

Now would someone please explain to me what plums are....

A belated thanks to IFR and his good lady for the excellent hospitality which we have all come to expect and love so much.

As a Bash it was certainly a lot smaller by recent standards but just as enjoyable. The usual suspects up to their usual tricks, some new friends from many corners of the globe, and of course another superb star guest who gave us some great tales of his pioneering test flying career.

I have certainly noticed the disappointment of some that I was not properly dressed for the occasion and will not let that happen again. :ok: The disappointment was matched on my side by only getting to talk to flyblue for a mere fraction of the evening. Mea culpa !!!!

So I also need to liaise a bit better with IFR on the seating plan for my next Bash .... I have a special request for who will be my tables guest of honour next time :O and of course flaps40 needs to be accomodated to join us if she makes it too :E

Regrettably I was having such a great time that I totally forgot my camera was also in attendance and ended up taking NO photos :{ Further bad news seems to be that Wholigan has suffered some calamity downloading his shots from his camera and they are now lost to the world :{

So PPRuNe Dispatcher .... our salvation is in your hands .... let's see your pics !!!
