Ok doke..Mini-TopCat is nearing his birthday...my initial question of 'What do want for your birthday' was replied to with 'A Holiday...Spain..France..even Dublin again like last year..just a few days away'.
After I'd picked myself up off the floor (I was expecting an answer such as so-n-so CD or DVD) I asked if there was anything perhaps a little less pricey (Big TopCat is not yet made of money). His next suggestion was a Parachute Jump. I liked the sound of this one...aviation and pressies in one go. A decent tandam jump from way way up there!
But where to start...anyone know anyone who'll do me a cheap deal for 2 to do it (I'll have a go too)...or anyone any suggestions hints or tips before I start throwing the credit card around?
If no help is forthcoming I will resort to giving him a douvet cover to hang onto and pushing him out of the upstairs bedroom window. :}

Perhaps you should look at an initial AFF course. Logging a tandem may present difficulties and you learn pretty much nothing. If I'm not mistaken the cost is around the same. My personal suggestion would be a static line course and a series of jumps up to free fall. He won't become a hotshot skygod overnight like the AFF guys but he will learn survival (ie, nobody holding your hand). Seen too many AFF graduates unprepared for the sh!t that happens.

You could try paragliding:} More time in the air for starters & if he gets real good, he could use it to get about (Mind you, that would be something) look here: www.bhpa.co.uk for info.

Sounds like somewhere in Scotland to me :p
If so, try Kingsmuir in Fife - brilliant team there.
Would like to offer help myself but unless you like sand between your toes and a:mad: e then the Gulf's probably a non starter too. ;)

Cheers folks, plenty there to be getting on with.
Parapunter - nice idea but I don't trust him crossing the road alone, let alone ultimatley in charge of his own paraglider. At least with a tandem jump he won't have to do anything bar look down! I used to hanglide and have been tempted by those paramotor thingies...they do look fun...maybe next summer :rolleyes:
Timmcat....errrr, I think I'll remain silent as I don't have a clue to what or whom you're referring to :p
And I would love to do it in Dallas and the Gulf...however $$ at the moment will prevent it.
