For cellphones, next new functions

"(...)Some people still forget to turn off their cellphones in theaters and on airplanes. To find the offenders, Mark Kroll has patented a system of antennas that can pinpoint an active cellphone. Kroll, from Simi Valley, California, won a patent for a system that places one antenna at the front of a plane and another at the back, or arrays three antennas in a theater.

I've heard of a company here in Aust. who makes a similar system, although it's a hand held wand similar to hand held metal detectors. As the cabin crew walk through the aircraft, the signal becomes stronger (and the beeps louder) until they have identiified the offender.

I wonder when we'll see them in service?
