Shuttleworth/Old Warden Aerodrome
Sunday 23rd November 2003

The airfield will be open from 10-00 to 15-00 local, subject to the serviceability of the airfield due to ground or weather conditions

PPR required 01767 627288 or by email to [email protected] before the day or to the tower 01767 627563 after 09-00 on the day. All times are local.

Old Warden information will be operational on 130.7

Landing fee will be £7.50 of which £2.50 will go towards Children in Need. Other contributions welcome of course

The Landing fee will entitle one person free access to the collection, others will need to pay the normal fee.

Visitors will be able to purchase a "Pudsey Bear" that has had the honour of flying in one of the collections aircraft. Funds raised will also be contributed to the appeal.

Food and drink will be limited to Beefburger and Sausages style, as there is major work underway to improve the facilities in this area during the winter

Hmm looks like I may have put the camera to bed a bit early.

Anyone got a spare seat from the Oxford area? :E

Looks like the (big end of season sigh...) 'ground risk only' telephone call to my insurers will be somewhat delayed this year, especially as The Collection is planning 'something' to commemorate '100 yrs' on December 17th.

I'm sure both of my birds will be out in the glorius warm winter sunshine, parked on firm grass...

If I put a Pudsey Bear outfit on, can I fly in one of the collection's aircraft?

I'll be bringing the trusty Auster weather permitting etc etc. Spare seat going if anybody needs a lift. Seeing as Old Warden is only about 20 mins from my base I could pick up from Panshanger / High Wycombe etc.

Hope to get there in 'WK.

Phoned yesterday for PPR, they just want Registrations, POB etc. no 'slot times' as such.

Hope the weather is better than today!

Safe Flying.

A shame - I remember the same thing happening last winter. :{

Perhaps there is some Edwardian ILS equipment tucked away at Old Warden which could be wound up and pressed into service for the occasion.

Well it's 13:00, low cloud and drizzle. Sorry chaps but I'm going to leave the wonderplane in the hanger and go and do some work on my Spitfire

Thanks to all for the interest.
Unfortunately the weather beat us however we will be trying to something for the Children in Need appeal for next year possibly in March and hold over any revenue for the next appeal.

Do not forget the 17th December. We will be operating again.
See the thread in the nostalgia section for more info.
Lets hope for clear skies and no wind.

Cheers to all
