Am interested to know how flight deck feel about the Dornier 328JET vs the ERJ135.Performance? Passenger Appeal? Etc.

I flew the 328 when it just had those propeller things. I could climb 215kts, 1500 fpm with a full boat. Cruise was .6
I don't know if the climb stats have changed but the cruise remained the same. Pilots and passengers love the airplane, mechanics despise it. You'll have to get the scoop on the jungle jet from someone else though.

Thanks.

Anyone out there flown the 328 JET version? Perhaps even as a pax?

I just flew in the front of a DO-328J and it went up like a rocket but only cruised at .64 at 27'0.
Pilots like it but a lot of side windscreen failures.
ATC keep asking if it is a jet.
No reverse, no spoilers, wierd.

Saw Scot Airways 328turbprop at LCY recently. Just how different is t'prop from jet version? Looks same, same configuration. For an airline having a turbo fleet, is coversion for crew etc to the jet version major work?

Anyone have any details on the normal cruise speed and fuel flow per hour of the 328 Jet?

Hi,

Where I work, we get these Do328JET's aircraft on delivery, seen about 30 of them now to USA mostly for ACJet in Delta colours.

The pilots love them and watching them take-off is like a learjet they are really fast and much faster in the cruise, one thing they did say is it burns up to 60% more fuel than the prop version but makes up for it in the fact that it has larger fuel tanks.

I like the cockpit, is really roomy with all glass and some of them even have HUD fitted in the LH seat for really bad weather, all round really smart aircraft, think we will see a lot of them very soon but I dont think they will be as popular as the Embraer 135/145.

The same avionics suite in the Embraers and the Jet Doorknobs. Honeywell Primus 1000. The Dorniers have a rather odd dark blue colored cockpit, however.

Been in one in Bergamo. Fell in love with it right away! Clear ergonomic cockpit, exellent finish throughout, nice looks and from what I've heard great perfo. Beautifull aircraft. I think that 728 is going to be a brilliant aircraft and if I ever get the chance to fly it, it stands a good chance of becomming my personal favorite.

I fly the 328J for Delta Connection. Very nice plane.
We are not cert to do reduced thrust t/o's yet, so on a normal climb out the Rate of climb would be around 3500-4500 fpm to 10000ft. (eng's are flat rated at 6050 lbs)At MBRW (34524lbs) it would be around 3500fpm. Wings are not swepted, so a normal crz at say Fl250-FL310 would be .64M
(385TAS). Flight plan fuel flow is 2000lbs/hr. Total usable fuel is 7800 lbs. No rev for landing, just brakes and ground spoilers. They seem to do the trick.
The plane handles like a big C-172 with a crosswind of more than 15kts. (Max is 24kts)High wing/high mounted eng's/feeder tanks out on wing tips, all make for a fun t/o/landing. Don't fly is plane to Wellington (NZ) on a windy day!!!
Avionics are P2000. 5 CRT, FMS with VNAV. no A/T. EICAS, TCASII, and lots more. Systems are very staight forward.
I think they go for a cool US$11 mill.
