Looking at buying a share in a VANS RV4 aircraft, wondering if anyone out there has any experience flying them and if they have any comments or opinions about the aircraft?

Many Thanks! :D

I had a go in one about 10 years ago (courtesy of Custom Air at Avra Valley, Arizona).

I absolutely loved it, and have been wanting one since.

The only adverse comments I've heard relate to luggage space and the springy undercarriage on bumpy grass strips.

Any more shares going?

360BakTrak,

You could try asking on the UK RV group email list (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/rvsqn/) , or the UK RV web site (http://www.rvuk.flyer.co.uk/) , but the responses you get might be a bit biased :D

Mark1,

There's a group building an RV 9a near Coventry. They may also have access to an RV 4 and RV 6. You can find the details in a thread on the PFA bulletin board (http://www.pfanet.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=6;t=000158) along with contact details of the person running the group. Looks as though there are still a couple of shares available.

Brooklands,

Thanks - though its the RV4 (or 8) that I'm most interested in.

I look forward to seeing Steve's when its finished, though as I'm currently supporting shares in 3 classic taildraggers, something will probably have to go.

Can you really have too much of a good thing?

I have flown a couple of RV4s and a couple of RV6s. All in all v impressed - even to the extent that I have bought plans.

Control harmony on the -4 was v good, performance excellent for 160hp and operation in and out of my short grass strip was easy.

Aerobatics, whislt not in the same league as the Pitts were fun, although Eric Marsh (Cavendish Hotel sponsored RV4) competes at Standard level in a -4, I think that perhaps they are better suited to fun Sunday morning aeros.

The paint scheme makes a huge difference as to how they appear on the ground!
