Hiya, I have just been looking at a FAQ page on South African Flying. I am going to do my PPL in South Africa next summer, but because I want to go further than just a PPL I will need a JAA licence, so I need to convert.
In order to convert from a SA PPL to a JAA PPL, if I have LESS THAN 100 hours, but I hold a CAA class 1, I have to pass all 6 ground exams and the R/T and then the skills test, then I will be eligble for a JAA PPL is that correct?
Thank you for your help.
Richard

Only if you SA licence is current and valid in all respects. Let it lapse by just one day or fail to finish the course and you'll only receive a 10 hour maximum credit from ALL JAR-FCL PPL requirements....

Ok thanks. If I flew 12 hours or more in the UK my SA PPL stays valid though right? If I do let it lapse, then I can revalidate it at certain UK flying schools though? (not that I plan to let it happen of course!!!).
