I've just seen my local news, and there is talk of a Delta flight coming into Gatwick within the next 20 mins, that's due to make a landing with hydraulic problems. I believe it had been diverted to Gatwick.

Many airport services terminated.

I'll keep you posted.

Just to let you know, a/c landed safely.

Delta Airlines a/c, routing from Amsterdam to New York, made a safe emergency landing at gatwick around 12:30pm, no one injured.

Engineers inspecting a/c.

Hmmm.... I was involved with this and it was a complete NON EVENT.

Possible Hydraulic problem on ONE system (B767), 20 min fuel dump (FL180 south of SFD, over the water, for those interested).
Little bit of vectoring lower down to burn a bit more fuel, followed by a NORMAL landing on 08R.

Ho Hum...

And with two exclamation marks in the title it promised so much...

Indeed! I was looking forward to a real 'Jet crash horror!' story with blood, entrails and Oh the poor children.

Well this is one vulture who's slightly narked he even bothered getting off his perch.

I saw a King Air gear up at KDAL on Monday if that'll help.

He made a nice job of it too, even shutting down #2 beforehand.

If you were wondering, the right main wouldn't extend, and no entrails. :(

Onan - was a school narrowly avoided? Did flames leap hundreds of feet into the air? If not then I'm simply not interested.

Not a mention of "passengers feared for their lives" or "Pilot announced they were going to make a crash landing"

StM - Well, ther was a school about a mile off the departure end of the runway if that helps - and the approach was across Bachman Lake. I bet there were lots of children in the park there, maybe even some orphans.

No flames though, sorry, but the trucks were rolled. They didn't jis the runway however.

It's the best I can do I'm afraid.

Yeah but we can keep getting in up and down as many times as we like and can do it just about anywhere too!

I know that Prince Harry was 12,000 miles away in Oz at the time, but where were the rest of the Royal Family at the time!
