Thomson (TUI) to take over jet2?

there are rumours that TUI are bidding to take over Jet2 and Jet2 Holidays, already Jet2 are to receive two 757-200s from thomson fly PLUS TUI are going to market Jet2 holidays!

and what does it state in that article that makes any inclination towards Thomson taking over Jet 2? There certainly has been no rumours in the travel trade regarding it. Simply Jet 2 are buying two 757s which Thomson are withdrawing to increase their fleet.

Also in todays travel market which is getting harder and harder for companies to sell in, they are increasing their product range to include a good product.

Jet 2 are expanding at most airports and are opening another new base next year.

Doesnt make sense.

Smart move by Jet2 Holidays.

Thomson and First Choice travel agencies are to sell Jet 2 Holidays. It's nothing more than that. They sell holidays from most tour operators. Nothing out of the ordinary

When I first read the story about TUI selling Jet2 holidays in their travel stores I knew it was only a matter of time till this "rumour" came arond.

A normal business strategy is to buy up and close down / integrate competitors.

I imagine however that the EU and UK competition authorities would take more than a passing look at such a proposal, even though Jet2 holidays are pretty small fry in the scheme of things.

This is the most ridicules rumour I've heard in 2010.
