Thessaloniki Airport (SKG)

Hi,
I am travelling to Thessaloniki on Thursday with Thomas Cook and was just wondering what the airport is like. e.g. Are you allowed to take pictures? How long is the runway? What are the duty free facilities like?

Thanks

Few years since I was there, so I stand to be corrected...

Are you allowed to take pictures?
I wouldn't...

How long is the runway?
2410/2440 metres depending on which one you use

What are the duty free facilities like?
If you're travelling from UK then no duty free, we're all in the EU, however shopping facilities were minimal... from what I remember one small shop

Probably the worst airport I can remember using as a passenger....

Have a look at this for more info..

Presume you're off to Halkidiki? Beautiful part of Greece...enjoy!

Only rwy in use is 10/28 at the moment. Either ILS to 10 or ILS to 10 and circle to the south for 28.

Watch out for the bump in the runway where the other crosses !!

Enjoy.

Now please write out 100 times after school...

NEVER TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS OF ANYTHING AT ANY GREEK AIRPORT!
NEVER TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS OF ANYTHING AT ANY GREEK AIRPORT!
NEVER TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS OF ANYTHING AT ANY GREEK AIRPORT!
NEVER TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS OF ANYTHING AT ANY GREEK AIRPORT!

etc. etc.

Never forget that many Greek airfields have a dual military/civil role, and there can be sensitivities. This is because the Greek air force is equipped with the very latest cutting edge technology, not available anywhere else, and they are concerned that Americans may try to spy on them to discover more about their hi-tch air force.

Hi,
Thank you all very much for your replies.
jetstream7 - You guessed it, I'm of to Halkidiki, which means I've got to sit in a coach for 2 1/2 hours to get to my appartment from SKG. Its worth it though because I get to fly on a TCX 757-300!

Should I be ok if I take pictures out of the aircraft window?

Thanks
