Aer Arann re-starting Waterford to Luton

Aer Arann Express, Ireland's premier regional airline, today announced the introduction of a direct daily service between Waterford and London Luton Airport, which it predicts will carry over 24,000 passengers this year. With fares from EUR129 return including taxes, the once daily service will commence on 9th June 2003 and will be operated by a 48 seater ATR42 aircraft.

The flight will depart London Luton at 1240 and arrive in Waterford at 1410. The return flight will depart Waterford at 1440 and arrive in London Luton at 1610.

Aer Arann Express currently operates five routes between the UK and Ireland, as well as providing services to all eight regional Irish airports. The airline is also adding a new 66-seater ATR72 aircraft to its fleet to provide additional capacity on its existing routes.

Commenting on the announcement Jennifer Mooney, Commercial Manager for Aer Arann Express said "We are delighted to be offering a direct service between Waterford and London Luton. We have identified a substantial demand for this new route and are committed to providing the high-quality, reliable level of service that our passengers have come to expect from us".

Good to see AA taking on this route previously operated by Euroceltic. Having used this route on several occasions in the past with ECY prior to their demise, I'm sure AA will make a success of it.

Manchester - Galway, 1 x daily, also starting same day, 9th June.

The airlines website is showing a lunchtime Galway service so what’s this aircraft doing the rest of the day when it's not flying to or from Waterford?

Only guessing but I think it will be a W with the GWY-LTN changing fron its present dep time from GWY to about 10.15, thus arriving LTN 12.10. It would then operate LTN- WAT. LTN-GWY say 16.40, arr GWY 18.35. This would then tie in with thr GWY-MAN departing at 19.05. Only an inspired guess though.

Powerjet1 you are correct. Good to see the route re-established. From memory, this will be the third airline to fly Waterford-Luton.

Maybe your thinking of Euromanx who operate the IOM-DUB route. I didnt know that a PIK-IOM route existed but perhaps it is new. Euromanx do operate IOM-EDI, EMA, LPL.
