Airberlin

Has anyone heard any news on Airberlin?
Ive heard from a local source in Naples Florida that they've gone bust. Apparently this persons family who flew Airberlin from Fort Myers is stuck in Germany and has to book new tickets to get back.

Interestingly, airberlin folks say that they have been informed that eeasyjet is only interested in AB's TXL operation, not DUS.

See I would of assumed it was around... Giving EZY a chance to break into DUS with good slots etc.

What do EZY want out of TXL? One day the new airport will open....

Precisely! This could give EZY an opportunity to expand their presence in Berlin before other airlines come into the market. That's what EZYs strategy is all about... expanding in the markets where they are already strong.

On Sunday 56% of Berliners voted to keep Tegel open:

Interesting to see Lufthansa not seize the opportunity to gain a presence in Berlin...

Hi Guys
After Lufthansa agreeing their deal for part of Air Berlin (Subject to competition agreements) and EasyJet in negotiations for the part they wanted, does anyone know what will happen now after 28th of the month.
Air Berlin said they had to stop operating then, so do flights stop till after competition talks are completed or do Lufthansa / Eurowings operate the flights?
I think The Nikki and LGW flight can continue if I have read things right.
Such a complicated situation

Mostly likely LH will operate but then may have to sell on if competition laws say they have to certain routes etc
