Air China

Do we know the reasoning of this? And positioning of the flight on the return leg?

Airport expansion: It's build, build, build in much of the world - BBC News

"Shiny New Terminals ?"

How about this for an inovative idea BBC, check the home front in its entirety before spouting forth about what's happening elsewhere, interesting though that may be ?

Yes, that's correct, airport expansion is alive and well in a place called Manchester, UK you utter, utter imbeciles !!!!!!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sorry this kind of output a few days before the "Airport Commission" reports , is in insidious and in my view agenda driven, designed purely to be somewhat manipulative in an attempt to pull strings politically in the background. Nothing more nothing less.

If Miss Naomi Grimley is so exercised how about "factual" reporting how about reporting the £1 billion pound "private investment" in airport expansion on home soil ?

Why do I get the impression that when it comes to Airport Policy the BBC TV "business" journos always seem to be trailing the news like an advertisment rather than provide some in depth forensic questioning ?
(The one exception being Steph McGovern)

Philomena Cunk ...your job is safe !

Oh how we can only dream of mega Chinese expansion to offset the BBC propaganda being pumped out on UK, yes that's "UK" Airport expansion as they keep describing it.

Be in no doubt, propaganda is what it is.

Yet more "adverts" today maquerading as news.

My goodness you could be foregiven for thinking the BBC business editors in London are on commission.

I normally roll my eyes at some of the complaints about perceived anti Manchester slights on here, but it has to be said the BBC do seem to be on a mission this week; Grounded: The chequered history of UK airport expansion

You would think an article with that title might mention somewhere outside the South East!

Bagso, as welcome as the recently announced investment in MAN is, at the end of the day it is mainly replacing what is there already, initially only providing around 5 million additional capacity by 2025. That is hardly setting the world alight and in no way comparable with the airports the BBC reference in their story.

There is plenty of airport development quietly going on around the UK, that the Beeb and other news agencies don't regard as news worthy, so I am sure you are not alone in your exasperation. At least the BBC is recognising aviation as an issue even if it is tucked away on its website and not headlining the six o'clock news (though I suspect that won't be the case tomorrow...).

One opportunity for you to tackle the BBC has just come to light...BBC Radio 4's 'Any Questions' on 10th July is coming from Manchester Airport (or "The Runway Visitor park, Altrincham" as the beeb have it on their website http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006qgvj )

What do you expect when the Business Editor, Kamal Ahmed, is previously from the Telegraph, and you can't get more London-centric than that?

Anyway, nice to see Air China and 2 CX aircraft on the ground at Manchester this morning, as well as Emirates, 3 VS and a Saudia, and (running late) the EY.
Then of course there was a collection of US carriers. SQ had already departed when I was there. Not bad for a mere "regional" airport.

Are you? You should start your own thread.

Not bad for a mere "regional" airport.
Who used the word "mere" There's nothing merely regional about MAN so why propogate that myth except to play the victim?

Given the Commision is predicated to bring about politically contentious expansion in the Home Counties and London what were you hoping for? News on Runway 3 for MAN?
Can we please stop conflating the two issues of hub expansion for the UK's only hub airport (not Gatwick, the other one) with continued excellent growth at MAN?

There is plenty of airport development quietly going on around the UK, that the Beeb and other news agencies don't regard as news worthy
Quiet growth is not a news story. Boris in front of bulldozers, Justine Greening resigning from Cabinet or Zac Goldsmith forcing a by-election are. Of course we all know this, my bad. Continue the moaning.

To a degree Skipness that was my point. Wider investments at UK airports is not newsworthy as to a great extent it's 'business as usual' and whilst noteworthy at a local and regional level, doesn't compare with the economic, social and environmental impacts of a possible recommendation that in effect adds capacity equivalent to an airport the size of Gatwick onto what is already the UK's biggest air hub. It wasn't a moan...

My word Skip, we are in a provocative mood today.

MAN has been referred to as a regional airport, even by it's own management, and it is regional in the sense it is not London. but it is also an International airport and a sizeable one at that.

Where did I mention expansion in the South East? My first comment was giving some support to the view that BBC reporting leaves something to be desired on occasions and the criticism by Bagso of the "Grounded" article was in my opinion justified.

My second and separate point was made as a MAN enthusiast (a bit of a spotter I suppose) as I was pleased to see the array of airlines on the ground this morning. Nothing to do with 'victim' I assure you and nothing to do with 'conflating' two issues.

Not for the first time, you have effectively attributed words or meaning to a poster that were never written or intended. Please don't do so.
