Vanair Europe
Hi all
Noticed a saab 340b OK-CCO of Central Connect Airlines doing a IOM BHD IOM BLK Route recently using Vanair code VAA518B (or 516B) Have they drafted in a new aircraft to cover the extra flights which Links air use to do??

I understand that there is some sort of a 'glitch' which shows OK-CCO flying these routes from the IOM on FR24. The actual aircraft being used is another Let 410 registered OK-LAZ which is possibly being used as cover for OK-RDA which is away at present. Hope that helps.

Know nothing of the exact situation, but a possible cause of the 'glitch' that is mentioned above.
Some time last year I was sitting somewhere in the UK looking for a colleague of mine on FR24 who was supposed to be following an hour or so behind me. I couldn't see him but saw another company aircraft on the way and thought it a bit strange. I thought it quite a bit stranger when I remembered that the aircraft that was on FR24 was currently sitting in a hangar missing vital components.
Turns out of course that maintenance had changed the transponders over, but of course had forgotten to change the hex meaning that it was still showing as the old aircraft.
Perhaps something similar has happened here.

As I recall Manx2/ Citywing enjoyed a competitive advantage of £10 per ticket in terms of taxes due to the aircraft being 19 seats or smaller... Does this rule still apply? And if so what are the implications when a Saab 340 is put onto the route? Would the airline have to pay £10 per pax retrospectively?

PS Pardon my ignorance if the £10 discount has been taken away in the interim...

EI-BUD fella _ think the £10 no longer applies but doesn't seem to have made any fares cheaper. Problem is that there no competition to city wing and they're milking the fares accordingly. The Rock is now an aviation backwater and the punters are really paying the price for open skies, yes sir.
Tinwald, not strictly correct.
The threshold for APD on flights departing from UK airports was lowered from 10 tonnes MTOW to 5.7 tonnes MTOW in April 2013. As the Let 410 and Jetstream 31/32 both exceed the 5.7t limit, APD is chargeable on all departures.
The Isle of Man Government chose not to follow UK tax policy (for once) and retained the 10-tonne limit which no doubt was helpful to Citywing and probably therefore was the reason they took this decision.
A Citywing flight from IOM to BLK is therefore not chargeable but a passenger travelling from BLK to IOM has to pay £14 APD nowadays whereas up to March 2013, they were exempt.

Why do the flights rarely go above 9,000 ft when service ceiling is around 15.000 ft. Airliners.net states 24.300ft
