It's quite possible that Stobart Air will add frequencies to the DUB route, in addition to the existing daily Flybe 'mainline' DUB-SEN-DUB rotation, when the S15 timetable in released shortly.
The core Flybe flight won't be there for S15 but why they haven't taken it off sale yet is a surprise. It is currently being flown by the aircraft which operates SOU-DUB and they have a nightstop in DUB to provide an early departure to SOU until the end of March, but that disappears and the SOU schedule reverts to its original pre-Southend self.

Its being flown into Gatwick as Southend can't/won't handle it Lets hope that the passengers who get bussed back don't need to use the terminal facilities.

The TFS return flight will divert to LGW.

Flightrider

Thanks for the information regarding DUB-SEN. It is odd isn't it that it remains on sale when the S15 timetable doesn't seem to allow it.

Estimated arrival Sun 21st Dec 01:20 Gatwick. Just one of those things I guess. Those passengers are going to be really cheesed off. First they are delayed 3 hours and then once on board they will be told "well actually you are not going to Southend!"

What about the meeters and greeters. Will they really have to wait outside the terminal as it is locked up for the night?

I wonder why it was late in the first place?

Update

and it's needed to operate the 0700 departure to ALC tomorrow.
The ALC flight might be OK as an aircraft had to be flown in from Gatwick to operate the Tenerife flight due to a tech fault with the original aircraft.

Love the flight tracker http://www.easyjet.com/en/flight-tracker/EZY7442

Not sure but an A320 positioned from Gatwick to Southend this afternoon so presumably original aircraft went tech

Crossrail

In the early plans for Crossrail, a possible extension of the route to Southend was considered, but unfortunately not implemented. Maybe something for the future (albeit a long time away).

Just thought I would throw this in. Both of the top two holiday carriers have looked at SEN, and I can assure you, they will not touch it with their own aircraft. It's EZY or bust for holiday flights. Hey ho!

That's fine then as it puts more passengers through easyjet which has to be a good thing.

If you "look deeper into those prices" it simply confirms that you cannot compare prices on mature routes that have been on sale for a couple of months with one that is new and been on sale for 10 days. Let's look again at the end of February shall we and then discuss?

The holiday company / companies that use Volotea from SEN - PMI every Summer do not seem to have a problem. So it's not quite "EZY or bust for holiday flights" as you put it. Given the far more pleasant and convenient travel experience SEN offers over the larger airport / shopping mall options I know which airport I shall keep using for my two weeks in the sun.

NEILE 1: Why would that be? Is it because of the runway restrictions at SEN making their own aircraft marginal, or the exception conditions re. obstacle clearance, or Stobart Air management's lack of initiative/co-operation/common sense, or a belief that they won't fill their aircraft, or the early and late train issues, or a lack of awareness of the potential of SEN....... or a combination of the above....... or something else entirely?

I know for a fact Thomson won't be coming to Southend in the future with own equipment, just isn't demed viable, just the Palma route for now.
