I would have thought that there was a greater risk from the sort of birds likely to be attracted by discarded food.

I see Flybe are cutting back on their operations. Does anyone think this will have any impact on their franchisees? Will they be more supportive of these operations, and actively encourage growth? Or will their decision make absolutely no difference to Stobart either way?

PS - Just noticed Flybe tickets now on sale until Feb 18. Nothing from LSA after October.

The SEN franchise flights always go on sale later than the 'pure' BE routes. It's been the same scenario for the past few years. I think we're expecting some winter seasonal destinations to be announced when they do put them on sale.

Some interesting comments from Glyn Jones here, one of which suggests that EZY could leave STN and base 20 aircraft at SEN: https://www.ttgmedia.com/news/news/c...ty-crunch-9918

He actually says "as many as 20", which could mean 1. In any case, a quite extraordinarily speculative comment.

Yes interesting as you say.

Then (2015 & 16): "Our target is to deliver 2.5 million passengers annually by 2018"
Now: "We will do 1.1 million in 2017 and have said we will do 2.5 million in our financial year to March 2019."

All I can say is that I also find Glyn's easyJet statement extraordinary.

According to the EZY thread, there are 7 EZY aircraft based at STN this summer.

Wow! Glyn Jones is surely asking for one hell of a slap down whether he's talking with authority or out of his backside.

The danger with making statements like that is that they can set expectations unrealistically high. Generally it’s better to undersell and overachieve than vice versa.

The thing is, Glyn generally talks a lot of sense and he has the data to support his claims. The only issue is when you start talking about your main airline partners (EZY) and suggest that they could leave STN because of FR dominance, it just looks a bit desperate and might not be a stance EZY want to hear. On the other hand, it does show intent to grow the relationship further.

This looks nothing more than just the latest in a series of Glyn Jones statements to the trade or specialist press that is designed to attract attention, spread to the more mainstream press and hence raise the profile of his airport. ( See also #4027 by BA318 )

Note that his paragraph about EasyJet is heavily qualified by the words "suggest", "argued", "could" and "perhaps".

If there was any negotiation with EasyJet along these lines in reality, I cannot believe he would be going public with it in this way.

With reference to previous comments on the landscaping at the Airport I actually think that the "Wildflower Meadow" area is excellent. What is a disgrace is the neverending wasteland around the control tower - piles of old fencing and barbed wire, random pieces of piping and wood etc. A real shocker and a horrible view for those en route from the long-stay. How many years has the new control tower been open? Sort it out SEN!!

If I were EZY public relations - I'd be furious about such public statement's being stated without EZY prior approval. To me this will potentially be seen by FR as an opportunity to exploit and inflict competitive pressure on EZY to which EZY will no doubt be rightly p!ssed off with Jones for stirring up a hornets nest. Clearly didn't think ahead of the cause and effect of such ridiculous statement's.

SOP for companies to make media statements (especially to trade press) to provoke thought amongst their industry peers. He's non-commital and tabling his thoughts... nothing wrong with that.

Who said the statement was made without EasyJet approval ? None of the previous posts have said anything to that effect. I certainly don't claim to know. Do you ? If so, please provide your evidence. If you have none then perhaps you should consider applying your concluding sentence to your own post.
