I have just checked with both SEN and Flybe, it appears to be 12 flights a week to DUB for the winter, although the SEN spokesperson seemed rather unsure and
Suggested it was all very new and speak to the airline. Flybe confirmed 12 flights

My concern which Flybe seemed unable to answer was whether they will be able to offer the same US immigration clearance facility in DUB that Aer Lingus Regional/ Mainline offer at the moment. This has been a good selling point from SEN. Time will tell.

Skywork Airlines

I was mystified as to why Skywork had already announced the new Bern flights from Southend, but no mention of it from Stobarts. They told me that they were under contract not to announce it just yet. One sided agreement? I hope they will promote this service well soon, unlike the latest Stobartair/Flybe routes which started last week and very little mention of them in the local press. Whoever is updating the SEN website is obviously part-time or incompetent.

Website

The current website was a huge improvement on the previous, but now it too is becoming outdated and not very user friendly. Just compare it to the other London airports' websites, ours is not very modern. Probably quite a cheap design.

I'm a little surprised that the FMO route appears to be performing badly as it was served by Cityjet into LCY until a couple of months ago, although last June they carried only 1,238 pax on the route. Maybe business traveller numbers will pick up in September.

I used the CFR route over the weekend and the numbers were 41 outbound on Thursday and about 60 on the return yesterday.

Further to previous posts - it is jolly good to see that details of the Skywork service to Bern do now appear on the SEN website.

Newmarket Holidays.

I wonder if that affects the price of seats to normal travellers.
If, for example, NH buy a block of 50 seats early in the season on a flight to Palma 4 months later, have all the cheapest seats gone?

I look at the Newmarket Holidays website, and on offer are only two of Easyjet's destinations, so it's nothing exciting.
Soon Krakow will stop. Waiting to hear if they will start a new route (Prague, Rome, Vienna, for example).

Keep an eye out on the CAA statistics page as June's figures are set to be released sometime today! Will give you a good idea on how some of Stobart Air new routes have done!

Do we think flybe will be pleased with the performance of the SEN routes for June ?

Stobart Air (new routes)

If my maths is correct then...

Groningen = 1,546 / 42 flights (6 weekly from 5 June) = 36.8/72 pax per flight (50%)
Munster/Osnabruck = 1,056 / 50 flights (7 weekly from 5 June)= 21.1/72 pax per flight (29%)
Rennes = 2,235 / 50 flights (7 weekly from 5 June) = 44.7/72 pax per flight (62%)

The figures for Rennes and Groningen suggest a very satisfactory start, especially considering neither have recently had a London service and the relatively short lead in time.

Munster is somewhat weaker. Despite this I note that Stobart Air carried almost exactly the same number of passengers per flight as Cityjet did in June 2013 when their route was more established.

Overall it would appear at this stage that Stobart Air's strategy of connecting provincial European cities with London is not without merit.

Actually it looks to me that there were 26 days of operation for the three new routes so:

Groningen 22 rotations, load factor 49%
Munster 26 rotations, load factor 28%
Rennes 26 rotations, load factor 60%

I would suggest anything above 45% is very acceptable for a new, previously unserved route ('unserved' meaning perhaps more than 2 or 3 years ago) which was put on sale only two months before commencing so both GRQ and particularly RNS look encouraging. FMO is disappointing but seems similar to Cityjet numbers before they came off the route a few months ago.

NQY looks like 67% load factor to me, assuming the aircraft is a 78-seater.

NQY-SEN

Pax flown: 1,253
Seat capacity: 1,872
24 flights = 52 pax per flight (67%) on a 78-seater
