Wizzair
That's ridiculous really. How much congestion does that cause?? How can Wizz staff handle so many flights at once and then nothing for 4 hours? Interesting to see a lot coming in about half an hour early but still going about half an hour late.

Monarch summer 2015
Monarch have released their summer 2015 flights.
Five based and no gaps in the high-season schedule.
Therefore new routes will come at the expense of existing services/frequencies or another based aircraft.
Rome is six a week by July and Naples two.
Does this mean they are fighting fire with fire on Rome as it is only three a week at present but they intend to double it by next July?
Also interesting developments per the Monarch thread with the family looking for external finance.

PROBLEMS IN THE LONDON TMA?
Seems to be some sort of problem as 2 easyJets diverted to Luton from Gatwick and one to Stansted plus a Thomson Dreamliner from Cancun also to Stansted; plus major delays on departures.

Monarch
Thanks for the info OltonPete. It does sound like Monarch are going into battle with easyJet on the Naples & Rome routes. I wouldn't be surprised to see easyJet go daily to Rome next summer. They compete successfully on several other routes so no reason these two routes can't do equally well from Luton with two carriers.
Given that all 5 aircraft will be fully utilised next summer, it wouldn't surprise me to see them add a 6th aircraft at some point to facilitate further growth.

easyJet
I noticed that for the new Rome route, the inbound flight arrives at 14.20 with the outbound at 14.50 so obviously a based aircraft isn't being used for this new route.
Perhaps this will just be for winter when the based fleet is reduced or maybe this could be a way of growing more destinations without the need to base more aircraft given the lack of early morning slots?

The potential problem with doing that, especially in EZY's case it that it's fine for leisure pax but are business pax going to be that interested in a mid afternoon flight from LTN when there is so many other options on London - Rome?
If you look at how FR operate from STN they fly a lot of their inbound aircraft from other major cities over Europe into STN first thing in the morning as the STN based aircraft start going out so it attracts business pax.
EZY might struggle to do that at LTN because W6 literally invade LTN at that time. Unless EZY do it with the more leisure based routes, but they don't have bases in ALC, FAO, PMI etc.

I suspect Luton does have a little early morning capacity for arrivals but would EZY want to try this on a new route? I would think they might bed it down this year and if it works well then look at maybe business friendly schedules the year after.
