A quick Google of the Founder and CEO indicates he is from Worksop and graduated from Outwood Academy earlier this year, which is a school for 11 to 16 year olds. He was using the name Kaibaby.com until recently but had to rapidly take the domain offline with an apology to bmi Regional according to Savairs facebook page.

One to avoid.

I'm not sure how anyone can take that site serious. For a start it is built using Moonfruit.

I wonder if DSA know anything about it

I am a user of dsa,what has my first post got to do with things?i have been around aviation for many years,and I read with interest what posters have to say and that includes you,tw is entitled to his opinion,i have not noticed him having a pop at you,info is good for all be it right or wrong.as I said I am a user of dsa flew back into Donny last fri.

Well, let's not get too carried away. From CAA stats:

DSA freight handled Sept 2013: 90 tonnes
DSA freight handled Sept 2014: 9 tonnes

Biggest year for freight so far was 2007, with 1602 tonnes (average 134 tonnes a month)

A quick check on the Thomson and Thomas Cook schedules indicates quite a few decreases in either routes or frequencies to what was originally announced.

Thomson seems to be steadily reducing year on year.

Yeah I know the 'founder' of SavAir it's all talk and no action - I'd say 99% chance you won't see a plane as its a schoolboy fantasy, also not to put him down but he's not the most suited tool in the box. If it happens, it'll be a F-50 and will last 2 month, there just isn't the money in the markets and who would seriously book with a moonfruit website and with a name like SavAir?

I think you will find November is going in the right direction. I saw at least 62 tons going out last Friday and understand approximatley the same on last Sunday. This week there has been more 747's with an enquiry for a few more.
DSA has had a hard time freight wise over the last few years but they have now got the right people in place who is moving things in the right direction. They have in the past had people who could talk a good flight but that is all they could do.

I noticed last week that there were no DSA-BFS flights bookable with Links after the 5th Jan2015, after a quick email to them they have confirmed the service will end on the 5th January.

Shame- it's was popular enough, but with sudden and eratic timetable changes, most customers will have seen it as unreliable and retreat back to flybe, from other airports. Plus, how widely was the route advertised? Wakefield, Lincolnshire, East Yorkshire, North notts?

It's a surprise to be honest, especially considering as they've moved their offices etc to DSA, however thet appear to concentrating on routes in Wales.

It's a shame for DSA, as it is another failed business route. It's clear the airport isn't capable of sustaining business routes for whatever reason.

Well, if the recent cargo boom is a sign of things to come it might not make a lot of difference to the airport ...

It depends what direction the airport is wanting to progress in. Cargo looks like the priortiy.
Its a shame as there had been several new routes added over the last few year, and it looked like things could be turning the corner, however Thomson have cut at least two routes from their announced schedule for 2015, and Thomas Cook have cut also, which means any growth this year has seen will be wiped out in 2015.
