Go around at BOS due to tail wind

I was on EI137 today when we did a Go Around very late in the descent. Captain said he aborted because we had a tail wind and had to move to a different runway. Would ATC not have told him the winds on the way in or can they change that fast.

04 in BOS almost always has a tailwind on approach.
