Pax division of Martinair Holland no more

Today flight MP2011 will make a last flight over Holland with low passes at various Dutch airports to mark the end of passenger operations by Martinair.
On board will be the founder, Martin Schroder and his wife, who started the airline in 1958. ETD SPL 1300 ETA SPL 1500.

The airline itself will continue to function as a pure cargo carrier within the Air France - KLM alliance.

I hope all staff will have found new positions within Dutch aviation.

Sad to see MAC go and all the best to their staff
But cruising low level for 2 hours in a 767?? Expensive farewell party (there is a crisis going on, you know...)!

Had a pleasant family flight AMS-MCO-AMS with them some years ago. Good luck to all those affected by the announcement.

Will really miss Martinair passenger operations. Lovely people to work with and all I can say is 'Thank you very Dutch' for many happy memories'.

The end of an era... Beautiful tribute, nice to see the Dutch Dakota Association DC-3 in the old Martin's Air Charter colours also present at Schiphol-East.

Thank you!

Martinair ends pax ops... :-(

After 53 years Martinair ended their pax ops yesterday.
They will continue as full cargo airline.

A sad day it was.

This is indeed very sad. Martinair was a frequent sight at points across the main charter destinations of the World for many years.

This is getting really scary now. Most of my mates in aviation moving up to the big airline & now airlines, themselves, dropping off the radar. Just a question of time before I am called for interview ! But, look, had the best time of my life in Holland on a short-lived Transavia contract and spent many subsequent years trying to get into Martinair. Never got close. I often think it was because of Schroder himself, a bit of a funny chap. Driving home to Reygershof 50, I was being followed by a Martinair FO(First Officer, not Flying Object). Dropped by the local Store to get some items. I got out of my car, no hat, tie disgarded and shirt unbuttoned to the waist(well, fancied the Popsy in the store). Martinair chap, did the same. From behind a tree, a screech of " Oy, you, come ere !" ! It was Schroder, I thought he meant me but he was after his own employee who was then on the receiving end of a very public admonishment about dress codes etc. I repaired to the safety of the store, giggling a bit. Inside, a well groomed and now - dressed correctly for shopping in uniform - First Officer told me that he was, facing further action on the subject, the following morning. I often think that was the reason I never got close to a job with the now, defunct,Martinair. Great airline though and I would have been proud to do my shopping in full uniform, including hat ! Totsienz chaps & good luck. Very sad demise.
