No new routes from MAN then ?

So there's just silence ? Anyway, wasn't expecting anything useful or suprising, just the usual sun-routes and maybe some Eastern European (maybe VNO ?). Despite BE leaving FRA and therefore leaving a market open for FR that could be profitable, MOL is not keen to serve something obvious like HHN-MAN. He should really hope the Germans and French will keep bailing-out all the south Europeans, otherwise he's completely in the wrong markets. Sure, I know, FR's route planning is a mystery and as predictable as the UK weather. 'Auf Wiedersehen Lufthansa ?' - Not at BHX and MAN ! LH and its allies now are the force there for European routes, their only rival is KL/AF.

If Ryanair's public relations were a little more sophisticated and professional, I think people would not have the opinion of an arrogant company putting itself on a pedestal, and thus want to knock it down.
Maybe not sophisticated, but certainly very professional - all that 'bad' news puts lots of bums on seats. Compare marketing spend at FR v Easy or any other low cost airline.

Been monitoring Twitter for any Ryanair news and the whole business is an enigma. Loads of "worst service ever" and "I'll never fly Ryanair" mixed in with 9% increase in pax reports.

Without being too pedantic, I would disagree with the PR being professional. That's not to say they are not excellent at what they do, however I would not use the word professional.

As successful as Ryanair are, and there's really no denying that. In response to a question as to why FR are so picked upon and bashed, I still believe that it is in part to Michael O'Leary and therefore FR as a company being basically seen as uncouth. I'm sure FR really don't care with nearly 80m tickets sold annually, but this whole rude, uncouth and arrogant persona of the business does seem to lead to more staunch element of detractors. Hence why other low-costs, while maybe not as successful, are much less picked upon.

Constant self-praise, whether a business or another person in any aspect of life, will soon start to grind on people, especially when its so overt and then every little fault will be highlighted to try and bring that person / business back down to earth.

Perhaps the meeting at MAN yesterday didn't go as smoothly as expected.

Bournemouth seasonal base for 2012 has just been announced. Maybe this is part of a wider MAG drip-feed release?

Maybe last minute demands by FR unacceptable to MAG.

FR from MAN

Jamie2K9,
Is there any light that you are able to throw on this for us? Do the new MAN routes now look dead in the water for now or is there likely to be something new for us imminently? Thanks, DomDom

Girona

MOL still at loggerheads with Girona with the threat, not only to withdraw the last GRO based aircraft, but to stop flying in any aircraft whatsoever . Wild cat strikes last week with some aircraft not having incoming or outgoing hold luggage handled.
Estimated 4000 jobs at risk (including ancillaries-coaches,car hire) so it can only get worse!

Whatever way you look at it. FR will not be able to transfer all flights to BCN and they know this.

Girona have said there will be no further talks so its up to Ryanair.

Perhaps MOL was (was he actually there?) only going to MAN to announce the resumption of flights in 2012 from the MAG owned BOH, and all the speculation of new routes from MAN has been hot air?

Who knows

I'm starting to sway towards @GrahamK 's take on things. Could have been discussing with MAG re BOH, EMA, HUY or maybe even MAN - but I don't know.

Maybe @Jamie2k9 was full of hot air. Quoting the PPRuNe footers:

As these are anonymous forums the origins of the contributions may be opposite to what may be apparent. In fact the press may use it, or the unscrupulous, or sciolists*, to elicit certain reactions.

Not doubting Jamie knows his stuff, but the specific content leading on the 'MAN' thoughts doesn't appear to be true right now. But I hope it does become true.

I said a possible new UK base which was between MAN and another airport but I didn't say it was being announced this week. That was another user. I just presumed like many other users it would be when somebody said what hotel and when he was staying there.
