Anyone remember what happend when Thomas Cook tried rebranding itself as JMC
To be fair it didn't. They created a seperate brand JMC to focus on the tour operator side of the business and created an in house airline JMCair by merging i believe Flying Colours and Caledonian. The brand was actually well recieved by the British public and knew it was associated with the long standing trusted brand Thomas Cook. Thomas Cook decided to streamline the business and put emphasis again on its Thomas Cook brand and heritage in around 2003. They rebranded the airline as we know to Thomas Cook Airlines and phased out the JMC holiday brand by the late 2000s.

Cassa fly, thanks for the info. I just didn't like the idea of being sat nearly four hours extra on the plane, or do they disembark passengers when they make the tech stop in Manchester?

JMC came about when sun world and sunset joined forces along with air world, flying colours and Caledonian. Remember unwrapping the package ads on TVs. Only lasted a couple of years as in my opinion bad management destroyed good names. To get back on track they rebranded again to Thomas Cook to try and get business back. I think it's a big mistake getting rid of Thomson name in uk as it's very well known and probably quite trusted.

i dont think the package tour travellers will give two hoots whether its TUI or Thomson. The name is normally occluded by the airbridge as they board! Although whether tighter European integration in this climate may not be good for UK or travellers in this climate.

No it's a splash and dash with a crew change

On Planefinder it says TOM2200, Man to JSI, that Thomson have been using a 787 occasionally in place of the usual 757s. Can this be correct as the runway is very short?

Does anyone know the answer to my question please?

Thomson's 787's (and 767's for that matter) are not authorised to operate into JSI, so no it's not correct.

Thank you H44, that is what I thought, but wanted to make sure!

When I first went to Skiathos in 1990 a car went up and down the runway before the Britannia 737 landed. I was told it was to make sure there were no children playing in the middle of the runway as the'd had this happen before. I want to take off on a 757 from JSI before they all sadly go.

I'd be surprised if NCL - BGI would be via MAN as prior to the 787 becoming part of the TOM fleet, BGI routes from NCL always operated direct to BGI on both TOM and legacy ex-FCA aircraft.

But I'm sure time will tell if yours operates direct or via MAN. Fingers crossed for a direct route.

NCL-BGI is nonstop.

EDIT: Oops maybe not. It's always been nonstop in the past though?

LGW -LCA will be operated by B789 on July 17th, 24th, and 31st. G-TUIJ B789 is actually operating MAN-LCA today.

Could this be something to do with crewing? I believe this flight only operates twice in winter 16/17 from Newcastle. As already stated this has operated non stop previously. Is there a site that has details on flight plans, maybe six months ahead, seem to remember one a few years ago for Thomson?

Aircraft allocation decisions are made just hours before the flight operates.

In that case do TUI have an aircraft on standby if another one goes tech?

Current shorthaul configured 787-8 are g-tuia and g-tuif which alternate Gatwick or Manchester. 4200 is due to be on shorthaul 787-8. I think that g-tuih is at Luton to be refitted to shorthaul seat fit. So take your pick to one of these airframes being on flt 4200.

In reply to the earlier comment that 12 hours on a 767 is fine, they obviously haven't been subbed on an all Y config one from SFB back to the UK

awful truly awful
