When Harrods were using the South Apron it was often full together with the apron outside their hangars. On Tuesday I noticed only one aircraft parked outside their new terminal.

With passengers now having to cross the service road to get to the terminal I wonder if the new drop off area has claimed its first victim.

CAA's April statistics are just out: Movements at 6,604 are -9.9% on a year ago, and passengers at 787,908 are -4%.

That makes six months in a row of almost double digit shrinkage in movements - Nov -10%, Dec -11%, Jan -17%, Feb -26%, Mar -14%, and April -10%.

Passenger numbers show a similar pattern - Nov -8%, Dec - 9%, Jan -11%, Feb -24%, Mar -20% and April -4%.

Pretty grim reading for the management, although they may see hopeful signs in the lower shrinkage rates in the most recent figures.

Those figures are not too bad at all compared to other UK airports.

Luton Borough Council might be feeling the pinch though!

From what I saw it was just past the zebra crossing on the service road leading from the drop off zone.

Sounded like a very tragic accident by all accounts.

Heartfelt sympathy to all concerned and involved.

Guess it wasn’t a good idea to have passengers having to cross a service road to get to the terminal.

I wonder if this means a review of how passengers get to the terminal from the new drop off area? The problem is that there is no route to the terminal without crossing the service road.

I know, put departures on a new first floor of terminal with special drop off zone in elevated section, build a multi-story car park and a bridge across service road..........then I woke up!

Someone has removed the last 4 posts about El Al Is this the work of Mossad

Will I get a knock on the door for posting this again after commenting on El Al using a 757 for their Thursday service?

With no Heathrow service on Friday’s El Al’s only flight from London is from Luton so should guarantee a 767.

And today's Service! With no LHR today wouldn't you think it would be a B763?

Thumbs down Windjet-Forli

Anybody know why the Airport web site still hasnt advertised this route which i think starts early July.
It has the same frequency as Blue Air. ie twice a week

I would have thought they would be keen to promote any new route as soon as possible to make it a success.
Friends of mine in Bedford werent even aware this route existed.

When the heck are they going to change the priorities in the drop off zone. Every day this week i've had to que for anything between 20 and 25 mins getting into work at easyland for 0700L, it's absolute chaos in the morning. And that at the end of a 1 hour drive where there's no hold up's at all.

Pity you didn't show similar respect when, two weeks ago, you flippantly asked

Anyone know the exact whereabouts of where the woman got squashed last Saturday?
