......or, move the glass wall in such a way that there is access airside. The barfood airside is very limited and not the best. Passing through yesterday morning 05.30ish wasa typical example, big queue for frisking, so nobody stopped to eat that side. B

In fairness I don't think the queues at cork are bad at all. Even early in the morning they move quickly, they usually have 3 scanners open, iirc. With 4 EI A320s a pair of FR 738s and a pair of EI regionals and possibly an overnighting MON there are up to 1398 passengers moving through the security channels. Certainly over a thousand, not an insignificant number, given the size of the airport.

Cork passenger throughput down for May but only marginally. Euro 2012 might give June figures although most people travelling from Cork appear to taking the scenic route by road to Dublin .

Heard that Brussels continues to run ahead of expectations and that it's not having any impact on Schiphol. Could Frankfurt be next?

Mea culpa. Friday's received the first visit of an Aer Lingus liveried Aer Arann ATR-42 working a rotation to Glasgow. Good to see one of them lads in Cork again. Now, if only, they could coaxed into doing a Cork - Dublin! There was a nice trio of Gulfstream bizjets in Cork on Friday too - a nice sight to be sure.

Was indeed a nice sight! If only they'd bring back the Dublin service how many times I flew there at the weekends! Also for anyone wondering what the story was with the Ryanair schedule this evening... the inbound Liverpool flight and crew operated the Reus outbound and inbound flights before operating the return flight to Liverpool 7hrs late. EI-EVH went tech after arriving back from Pisa and is grounded until FR engineers travel down from Dublin tomorrow to start some FMC repairs (good luck with that!), another aircraft positioned in from Pisa to look after the Cork schedule tomorrow.

There are more and more people driving between Dublin and Cork these days, and now there is a direct bus, I think the market for a flight is even less than it was last year.

Don't know how people find the Bus trip appealing other then being dropped right in the City Centre. Obviously the benefits of travelling by car are a given but it nearly adds up to the Ryanair fare which got me before from Cork Airport to Dublin City Centre in an 1hour and 30mins, easy!

Rumours it will be increased versus the current planned 4 weekly winter flights for next Summer too one could only assume a daily service, well thats being hopefull.. as regards Frankfurt it's very possible, looking at the Aer Lingus schedule its hard to find out where they could fit in Brussels at 4 weekly if they wanted to continue to current level of service of 4 weekly beyond the winter they would have to reduce or cut flights as all aircraft are worked all day for the Summer schedule, maybe that 5 a/c will finally arrive now that's being optimistic.
so if a 5th aircraft was added for the summer, and operated 2 daily LHR (ORK-LHR-SNN-LHR-ORK), 3x weekly BRU, a possible 4x weekly FRA, and maybe some additional frequencies elsewhere, there could be a case for a 5th winter aircraft/ 4th Winter aircraft.

Aer Lingus Regional should give the Cork-Dublin service a try with at least an early morning departure and evening return to enable flight connections through Dublin. Guaranteed to succeed..no matter what people say about the motorway between the 2 cities and the hourly rail service..it doesn't suit business passengers who want to connect through Dublin airport.
To go from 11 services a day between the 2 cities to 0 flights in the space of a few years is ridiculous.
