Interesting that LCY are describing the delays cancellations this morning on 'adverse WX conditions'. I heard it was due to the approach lighting failing.
I see also the Threshold lighting is NOTAM'ed U/S until 23rd- this must be quite tricky on a steep approach approach to a short runway, or are there temporary wing-bars provided?

Fog around London seems to have caused havoc with some of the saturday flights. I see, for example, a WX flight from AMS (delayed by almost 8 hours) circling around STN and LTN and a BA flight from MAD apparently has now abandoned plans to divert to STN is heading north to BHX.
Just wondering - how strict is the curfew in circumstances like these if other London airports cannot take diversions? I suppose it is just tough luck?

It's basically zero tolerance, but due to LCY's location and limitations I can't really see a scenario in which it would be open and the other south-east airports aren't.
As for today, it's still pretty grim out there now so would have made little difference.

I thought it's not as much a curfew as it is closed, there is no ATC no fire cover and no airfield ops cover. Heathrow always have staff there at nights for example, City on the other hand is closed completely (at least so I think).

Just driven past LCY and just one lone BA on the tarmac. Is this standard practice whilst it's closed or were the BA/WX aircraft flown out due to the poor weather over the last few days? Where do they go?
Just curious.

They are all over the South East after yesterday was devastated with weather / lighting issues. Will start positioning back once open again @ 12:30. I know the two BA's @ LTN are due to position back at 14:00 and 15:00 - First scheduled arrival on it's way from Rotterdam, due early.

Those that stay overnight at LCY all flew out yesterday on their normal schedule, it's just that none of them made it back again and ended up at STN or wherever. Some are scheduled to spend the weekend in AMS/EDI etc though, i.e. they leave LCY on Sat and return on Sun.

Normally about six present over the weekend, mostly BA; although handling scheduled flights it does seem to vary from week to week, for example depending on whether the BA A318 needs to go over to Gatwick for maintenance or not.
Wonder what the lighting issues are.
Notably, following the runway resurfacing project there are now very large areas of the grass reduced to burned-off blackness. Looks more than a bit of a mess really. I was going to suggest here that LCY do a Google search for Turfing Contractors. I do wonder if this work has had some impact on the lighting cables.

Not seen it mentioned earlier but BA are dropping Madrid and won't be operating the Alicante summer service.

Interesting BA drop the link to their biggest partner on the continent and brother in IAG ! Are they trying to force MAN-LON traffic via LHR I wonder and assist IB?
