Changes in the slots coming soon? Designation of London City Airport to be as ‘coordinated’

The consultation document seeks views on two issues; whether London City Airport should be designated as ‘coordinated’ by the Secretary of State for the purposes of the Slot Allocation Regulations; and if so, whether the Secretary of State should approve the appointment of Airport Coordination Limited (ACL) as the coordinator at this airport.

With the current rate of flights disappearing from the schedules, the pressure to get LCY slot-coordinated must be somewhat alleviated....

Btw, are there any signs that something is indeed going to happen with the slots KLAFVG has made available for Eastern to start up AMS? Has been rather quiet on the Eastern front recently....

I didn't really see this one coming.
I had a feeling it was. When they BA had to go to EI to have them to sell seats as a code-share on their website, it certainly seemed like a last ditch attempt to boost the figures..

Dublin has only been a willy waving exercise against CityJet. Rather than trying to limit the revenue that others (CityJet) will generate, perhaps it is better to look after your own train set first?

Hmmm, how many times BA has got a bloody nose on the LON-DUB market? First LHR, then LGW, then LGW again (IIRC), now LCY. There seems to be no love lost.

Brilliant stuff,
wow are a brilliant airline!

London City Airport : News release

do wonder where the capacity will be coming from for the service as this would seem to suggest that as it operates from NQY first that a 2nd aircraft will be based at NQY?

An add-on from Newquay as well, in the usual Air Southwest manner.

As the successors to Brymon's operation, which started LCY off in the first place, it is good to see them back. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Brymon operate to Plymouth for a while from the first day London City opened ?

Yes as far as im aware PLH-LCY was the first scheduled service from LCY operated by brymon and i think with a dH7.

From what i understand WOW seem to be holding their own on the route at the moment. I used them a couple of weeks ago, saturday flight was 90% full going into LGW and around 20 mins early. Return on the Monday was only about 60% full out of LGW but not all that bad really for the end of Feb!

The crew were suggesting that the BE service hasnt had any real effect on the WOW loads!

Might well be that they cut back off a bit at LGW. Or, add another -300.

We'll see...

The Aircraft is being based at NQY. 2 for ASW, 1 for FlyBe, 3 for SkyBus

Thanks Rubberduck. Does that mean ASW are picking up another Dash, or are they simply jumbling the timetable around?

WOW loads have had a knock from Flybe's LGW service. This move by WOW makes sense to me (from WOWs perspective) as they can keep the business passengers that do not require onward travel through interline agreements and BE can keep the leisure market and those that require onward connections.

Two flights a day - wonder if by the end of the year this is increased as the LGW is reduced

Maybe if the NQY and PLH flights are popular then maybe WOW might think about adding twice daily services to the channel islands either LCY/JER/LCY or LCY/JER/GCI/LCY.

It does seem that with those flight numbers that wow665 and wow666 are available should a 3rd daily rotation be needed if the route is a success.

Which could then operate NQY-LCY-xxx-LCY-NQY etc etc etc!

I wouldn't mind betting LBA - they are looking at replacing a London link and WOW are already operating there to and from BRS, PLY and NQY.

Can't see WOW being interested in operating LON ex LBA. The problem with leeds is there are fast frequent trains between there and central London with journey times of just over 2 hours.

Most of BD's customers had onward connections ex LHR with another carrier. There is very little point to point traffic.

list is endless

LBA
EMA
MMA

and i could see WOW looking to operate all of those, but more than likely into LGW where slots are could well be easier to obtain and the onward connections are better which im guessing would be a good source of traffic ?

i doubt wow would ever be able to get slots at LHR and if they did im sure that NQY/PLH would get them ahead of any others

just my opinion anyway!
