The website actually says 'late summer 2006' and this service should be live in a few weeks time - at the end of the summer season.

clearly says 'late summer 2006' to me, and I always thought the summer season ends the last saturday in October?

Not going to argue about it, my point is, I dont like the way people just talk down their noses when these small regional airports are doing all they can to make progress - be grateful the service is on its way and show a little patience - what good are the sarcastic bitchy remarks? Sorry for the rant guys, but sometimes I think people should recognise a good thing when they see it.

I now see where your reading it,it's when you click on the banner it then says what i am on about.I have emailed the airport twice and rang them twice about the web page in the past few months of summer, they dont even now when it's going to be up and running.
Do you live in Blackpool and work at squires gate?
I did,did my aprenticeship with BIA in the seventys so i have an interest in Blackpool airport.
I know that it is now run by cityhopper airports based at wolverhampton.
For your information back then in the late seventys BIA wanted to extend the hanger to accommodate our Bac1-11's also pushed for the airport to install ILS,both of these were rejected by the council, this decision ended the careers of a lot of my colleagues. The company uprouted and went to Norwich within two years as Air uk.
So i am a bit niffed and who knows what the place would be like now if the council (motto-''PROGRESS'') had the gumption to do it.
There i've had my rant too.

I'm quite sure the service will arrive. It was perhaps a bit foolhardy of the company to state even the loosest of timeframes for start of the service. It'll be interesting to see when the next phase of the masterplan kicks off, and how the inevitable disruption will be managed. Anyone have the inside gen on when its gonna start?

well goin by the residents association anything you read in the gazette is going to be a battle for the airport to make the slightest change, surely if you buy a house by and airport runway, are you that nieve in thinking that there wouldnt be any noise???? , even looking at it from a few years ago, think people could see how it would turn out if the council sold the airport, i'm amazed people expect a company to plow millions of pounds in a place and then not expect any return from it throu increased buisness..ie more flights..increased passengers.... can sympathise with the people with the concerns , if its going to be that bad then the airport company/council should look into buying the houses, could always lease/rent them out or knowck them down ifpush came to shove and the continued noise become unbeareable.. but to get to that point surely it would need the number of flights leaving manchester a day to be leaving blackpool to get like that....

on another not e are there any new flights/ develpoments goin on at blackpool? any extra buisness always generates new jobs, which in blackpool has to be a good thing

No news on a winter agp flight either?
Would have thought that, that would have an effect on pax numbers through the winter. I would of assumed the airport management, would have actively seeked a malaga winter flight, due to last years success, despite what monarch said, if numbers had of been that poor, they wouldnt of carried it through the summer surely?
In my opinion for what its worth. If they had given it decent flight times, it would have still been as much a success, as when t was first launched.

On ew routes.Another Canary Island , such as,Lanzarote or Gran Canaria, would be nice.Or for summer to Ibiza. One party capital to another....

Onreading a recent thread for Bournemouth.it seems they have similar pax numbers as BLK, yet have the odd 747 out of there . Now i know im probably dreaming here ,but just to throw a question out there to any aviation guys. What would it take to get a 747 in BLK, beisides maybe a longer runway etc...interested to hear anybodies thoughts on it .( rememberi said i know im dreaming!!)

cheeers mark

Ryanair Girona

Have been on ryanair website today , and have noticed that summer flights are on sale now to gerona, with a flight time change departing BLK at 13.20 arriving girona 16.35. COming back the flight departs Girona at 11.30 arriving BLK 12.20.

Think with these new flight times this should prove really popular with pax, will certainly be booking a flight. Its a pity Monarch couldnt have done this with their flights, maybe then they would still be at ~BLk (notice that all monarch referance has dissapeared from BLk airports website too)

just one other thing , does anybody think that Ryanair will announce any new flights from BLk, Or has anyone heard owt in pipeline, from any airline would be great.
