Next airline at BLK

Talking about S07, could we see another operator at the airport for the season?

I know we have talked about Jet2 expanding at the airport, and maybe more routes from Ryanair bases, but could we see a new airline at the airport into the new year?

I personally would think that it would be an LC airline, maybe Air Berlin or Wizzair. I would think that the German and French markets are certainly the markets that will be looked at in the new year, aswell as heading further east to destinations such as Gdansk and Wroclaw.

Wizzair would be able to provide the latter services for hen and stag nights, and also people wanting to get away on a short break.

Air Berlin, the rapidly expanding German airline would be ideal to expand into German routes, with their unique LC connection process, connecting BLK with many destinations across all of Europe, including the Canary and Greek Islands.

I am very interested in your views. Please post them. Thank you.

However there has been some talk about a new BLK based Fokker 50 operator

Heard an interview with someone from Blackpool Airport yesterday on BBC Radio Lancashire, sayin how this Xmas is their busiest ever, 15- 20,000 pax between now and new year, good for blk !!! Also mentioned Jet2 several times and that there are several new routes( almsot double what their doing now) coming in the new year.. was driving at time,so not fully concentrating, but mention that looking for extra workers in new year to cover the extra work that will be available ....if true can only be good news for the airport...

Still say its a pity monarch left , butbad flight times wiil always be the reason people didnt want to fly...plus charging sky high fares for night flights... A new airline and well as an expanding jet 2 would be great fro 2007

On final note, does anyone know if the Tenerife flights will be continuing through the summer? Anothe canary island addedto the list would be good too.

merry xmas everyone

Happy new year all!!!

I don't think the TFS flights will be continuing through the summer as the S07 Canary flights have been announced at MAN, LBA and NCL.

Does anybody know anything about the F50 airline? Not heard much lately.

Just tried booking man to tenrife and its not available after 24 march. LBA and NCL are available for next summer, would guess there must be more flights to be realeased, was hoping for a summer canary flightfrom blk, would have saved the drag to manchester , or the farce that is liverpool

Any idea if Jet2 are basing a 757 at BLK in the summer, or will it still be 733s?

THomsonfly

How are thomson flights doing from blk? are the loads good? Does anyone think this will be the last year we'll see thomson flying out of BLK, its a shame a charter firm cant put bit of faith in blkackpool and use it for the summer as well, possibly a canary island, think thomson would be a good choice over first choice or my travel as they seem to be more focused toward being a lcc than the other 2 ! cheers for anyones thoughts

Checkin on line

Heard in the terminal that J2 were about to bring BLK into the 21st centurey with on line checkin later this year. Anyone hear anything?

Does this have anything to do with the rumors thjat ServisScare are about to be caned?

Does LS have its own Load Control and Operations at the airport? If so, then FR and Manx2 could end up using there services.

P.S. If not, then Serviceair will still stay at BLK, unless who is going to turn the plane around. Stairs, Admin, Pushback, Baggage (That is checked in) etc. are all still needed to be dealt with!

With regards to a 4th aircraft, LS have slots to position an aircraft from EDI to operate from Thursday through to Monday at BLK. They are also planning to sell seats on the flights it seems.

Will this a/c be based at BLK during the night, or will it operate from EDI-BLK and BLK-EDI everyday? I would be very surprised if this was the case, but if they were to sell seats, this will surely be the option won't it?

Hoping for a 752!

Plan is for it to spend all day at BLK on Thursday and Friday but returning to EDI at night to operate the mail flights from EDI, and then it spends all weekend and Monday at BLK including night stopping on Saturday and Sunday because there are no mail flights at the weekend.
Departures to BLK- 0610 on Thurs, Fri, Sat.
Arrivals from BLK- 1940 on Mon, Thurs, Fri.

Clearly they are just positioning flights and selling seats on them is an option which they have if they want to do so.

Just out of interest but after trying to book for tomorrow's (16.1.07) flights to ALC from BLK (TOM and LS) and return 23rd:

TOM flights - 1 seat available - £99.98
LS flights - over 9 seats available - £127.96

Both operating pre-NG 737s on the route (TOM:735 LS:733).

This shows how the LC airlines can charge more than Charter airlines for seats only, even when pax numbers are lower!

Great to see competition on a route - shows how TOM are taking this to LS with a restructure on the route by introducing a B735 instead of the B752 that has been operating in past winters.

Certainly hope that TOM or any other charter airline will introduce weekly (or more!) summer services to Europe.

P.S. Remember this flight operates midweek, and so the Saturday flight from LS will be picking up more pax. Will be very surprised if TOM carry on the ALC route next winter after the daily service this summer from LS! Already operating their smallest a/c on route!

Time will tell.....

Could any BLK local inform me on what the airport facilities are like now, I will be using the airport in a few months.

Most importantly, will BLK be getting a based B757 from Jet2 or not? Someone must know the answer to that.

Firstly, I am a very eager spotter of BLK. I have nothing to do with the airport.

Secondly, the new terminal is fantastic! So much better than it was before. Easy to check in, pass through security is easy and quick. The departure lounge is extremely comfortable when half empty. So much space! By far better and more relaxing than MAN or LPL!

Do you mind me asking where you are flying to?

Cheers.

P.S. Don't know about B752, but certainly hope so!

I take by your comments,Silverhawk that ther are no tenerife flights for the summer then? Do you know if they will return for winter? I know ill get shot down for saying this but dont seem to be much news on new routes for summer? As most people start to look to book there holidays for the summer, would have been nice for some new destinations from Jet2 or anyone else prepared to give blk a go
