Thanks Darren for that. Vaguely remember the last open(or was it the one before that??) there being a significant number of movements as a result of the golf. Perhaps they are all arriving on those state of the art trains that operate through Lytham to Blackpool South!

How dare the 767 not land here

GazT,

More likely the fleet of S-class Mercedes with Open Championship 2012 Official Car written on the side of them, they seem to be all over the place at the moment! I beleive there are restrictions on the trains while the golf is on with busses replacing them. There seem to have been an increase in helicopters at low level heading towards De Vere's recently, some could be staying there. I'm hoping to see some more movements over the next couple of days but I won't be holding my breath! There's n temporary apron extension at the moment to accomate aircraft with taxiway bravo being used for parking and aircraft being sent the long way around on alpha. It seems a little optamistic given the number of movements and few parked aircraft unless there's a mad rush of visitors, sponsors etc coming in from tomorrow when it all kicks off.

I have amended the analysis accordingly and now looks far healthier.
Yes - The airport in general looks healthier with Jet2's support.

If these routes are patronised and AGP does not decline further, then any new routes would I think require that elusive third based a/c.

Good to see it! It's always a pleasure to see smaller airports doing well, especially in these difficult times.

Paris?

What happened to that series of flights by DAT to Albert near Paris. No sign of them on the BLK website, whereas last time I looked it was all Eiffel Towers.

roverman,

They never got off the ground so to speak and never happened. I would assume through lack of demand.

Thanks Dazbo, I feared that would be so. That sort of very low frequency, short season service is only ever likely to work as an affinity charter where the seats are sold as part of an organised excursion.

They have some serious issues with signal readability/duff headsets in that tower which alternately affects both Twr AND App - Take Note SATCO!!

Each time a pilot reports it (which is becoming more and more frequent) they refuse to do anything about it. Procedures don't appear to be being adhered to..

Not Good!

Well , been reported today on BBC Lancashire, that the Air ambulance is moving to Preston from Blackpool, apparently its so they can get the doctors away to the scene of an accident quicker, although its going to cost more money to do it that way

On other hand, another loss to the airport

One has to wonder sometimes, how much longer it can carry on?

take off

The Blackpool based air ambulance helicopter is being moved to be based at Royal Preston Hospital. Similarly the Barton based helicopter is being moved to be based at Wythenshawe Hospital (University Hospital of South Manchester).

These are dedicated trauma hospitals. It will enable specialist doctors to fly out to incidents to treat casualties and accompany them back to the hospital.

It is all do do with saving lives, nothing else.

I wouldn't worry to much about the Air Ambulance moving - its on location to provide a service not generate income for the airport.

NWAA will still do a cracking job even if based off site , and to be honest the current location isn't the most logical for operations anyway.....no immediate perimeter access when any type of support services are required.

Sometimes an airport site can be more restrictive due to red tape and the ridiculous airside access issues it causes.

However it'll be interesting to know about aircraft refuels - will the new site
have onsite refuelling facilities and will the paramedics or crew be performing that duty ???

Slightly contrasting to the last post about the NWAA but I was wondering why Manx2 don't offer more scheduled services. Now that they have a well established base at BLK and two very popular routes to the Isle of Man and Belfast City, they should open more flights to some of their other destinations like Newcastle or Oxford or even Gloucester. Unless there is a reason why they don't offer more routes, I can't understand why they haven't opened more domestic flights. Surely there would be enough passengers to fill the aircraft, even if the flights were once a day! I know I would certainly use the service to Newcastle to see my family every once in a while!

Anyway just something I was thinking about this afternoon!

I think 181 is the last page, the others are just showing up as a result of some sort of glitch, nothing major and no-ones missing out on anything!

adfly is right..The very fact that we have posted on this page, shows the forum is working..

We have a small sport forum with the same software, and we get errors that are annoying, but don't affect the forum.

Flying into BLK this Monday from Alicante, either Jet2 have altered the pitch of the seating, or I have lost a lot of weight of late..A very comfy flight back to BLK.
